OTHELLO, Starring Daniel Craig and David Oyelowo, Sets Dates at NYTW

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced performance and ticket on-sale dates for OTHELLO, directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold (Fun Home). OTHELLO will begin previews on Tuesday, November 22and open on Monday, December 12 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003) for a limited run through Wednesday, January 18, 2017.

Lucy DeVito Joins Cast of IN QUIETNESS at Walkerspace

LucyDevito (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia /Love, Loss, and What I Wore) has joined the cast of Dutch Kills Theater's New York premiere of IN QUIETNESS by Anna Moench. Directed by Danya Taymor, previews begin January 8 at Walkerspace. Opening is slated for January 14.

The New York Times revealed in an article profiling ON THE TOWN's producers that one of them -- Howard Kagan -- wants to mount Dave Malloy's off-Broadway hit electropop opera NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 on Broadway 'soon'. Kagan produced the musical event's off-Broadway run.

The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 18 categories and one special award for the 2014 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00pm EST, and hosted by acclaimed husband and wife actors and comedians, Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman. This year's event will once again benefit The Actors Fund.

Ripe Time to Bring Gertrude Stein's THE WORLD IS ROUND to the Stage, 4/17-30

Ripe Time, the Brooklyn-based company led by Rachel Dickstein, has garnered acclaim for creating physically charged, visually powerful adaptations of classic and contemporary stories by authors raging from Edith Wharton to Jhumpa Lahiri. Conceived, written and directed by Dickstein, the play The World is Round epitomizes the company's work, creating from Gertrude Stein's book a fable (for grownups and mature children) full of original, live music by Heather Christian and aerial movement choreographed by Nicki Miller. Ripe Time's first new show since its celebrated Mrs. Dalloway adaptation Septimus and Clarissa (2011), The World is Round makes its world premiere April 17 - 30 at BAM Fisher (Fishman Space, 321 Ashland Place, Brooklyn).

NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 Closes Today; Film's Kickstarter $213,101 Short with 15 Hours to Go

NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812, named one of the Best Musicals of 2013 by The New York Times and one of Time Magazine's Top 10 Musicals of 2013, will close today at Kazino (45th Street between Times Square and 8th Avenue). In addition, today is the final day to give to the Kickstarter that was set up to help fund the filming of the show. The current tally, as of 8:30am, is 235 backers, who have pledged $36,899 of the $250,000 goal, with 15 hours to go.

In honor of the last week of NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812, the show just invited fans to Times Square to read Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace out loud, tag-team filibuster style, to celebrate great literature that has been made in to great theater! The epic event began on Tuesday and wrapped up this afternoon, when the reading was finally completed. BroadwayWorld stopped by for the festivities and you can check out photos below!
