STAR QUALITY: THE WORLD OF NOËL COWARD Exhibition Announces Events Leading to Aug 18 Closing

The smash-hit exhibition Star Quality: The World of Noël Coward will close on August 18 after a five-month, twice-extended run. The show focuses on Coward as playwright, composer, director, stage, screen, cabaret performer, and international celebrity, and represents the most comprehensive exhibition on Noël Coward ever assembled, including unique material from the collections of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Since it opened on March 11, 2012, the Exhibition has attracted over 17,000 visitors.

NEA Jazz Master Annie Ross and jazz vocal legend Andy Bey, plus other stars of the jazz and nightclub worlds, gather to salute the music of 20th-century genius Noel Coward in "ENGLAND SWINGS: Noel Coward in Jazz" at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola for two performances tonight, June 18th. Shows are at 7:30pm and 9:30pm. There is a $25 cover and $10 minimum at tables, and a $5 cover at the bar. Food is available. Dizzy's is part of Jazz at Lincoln Center, and is located in the Time-Warner Center at 60th St. and Broadway. Reservations can be made at www.jalc.org or at 212.258.9595.

Broadway Ballyhoo continues its concert series tonight, June 7. The four stars kicking off the Ballyhoo's seventh smash month at Feinstein's will be the star who played Tony in the Broadway revival of West Side Story, Matt Cavenaugh, the beautiful young actress who played Meg in the Broadway production of Little Women, Jenny Powers, one of Broadway's great Elphaba's in Wicked, Julia Murney, and the acclaimed nightclub star who will be holding court during the dinner show at Feinstein's, Maude Maggart.

Last night, May 29, the John Pizzarelli Quartet and special guest Bucky Pizzarelli visited Cafe Carlyle, where they will play through June 8. Performances take place Tues-Fri at 8:45 p.m. & Saturday at 8:45 p.m. & 10:45 p.m. Cover Tues-Thurs: $90 per person ($50 bar seating; $135 premium seating); Cover Fri-Sat: $100 per person ($50 bar seating; $135 premium seating).

New York's cabaret community just came together to celebrate the legacy of its late great impresario Donald F. Smith in a free public concert. Donald F. Smith, Executive Director and Founder of The Mabel Mercer Foundation, passed away in March, 2012. He created the New York Cabaret Convention 27 years ago. For many years it was held at Town Hall, a building he was instrumental in preserving as a New York City landmark.

Tony Award-Winner Dick Latessa, Honorary Board Chair, brought together Broadway stars on April 30 to help raise funds for Creative Alternatives of New York (CANY) which uses drama therapy to help New York's most vulnerable children and adults. This year's 2012 Annual Gala, which highlighted the CANY mission with the theme of 'Creativity+ Community+ Change = Rebuilding Lives,' was held at the Edison Hotel Ballroom (240 West 47th Street). The 2012 Honorees were Broadway veteran, film and TV star Anita Gillette and CANY Chair Emerita, Ellen Kealy.

92nd Street Y today announced the 2013 line-up for Lyrics & Lyricists™, 92Y's celebrated American Songbook series. Deborah Grace Winer returns for her fifth season as artistic director of the series, as well as one of the shows.
