In addition to her New Year's Eve performances at the Metropolitan Room on December 31, Marilyn Maye kept the party going with five unprecedented, by-request shows during the first week of the year. 'Marilyn By Request,' in which Maye and her Billy Stritch-led band will create a new show based on audience requests, marks her return to her downtown stomping ground. There's a new girl in town this January when Tony and Golden Globe winner Linda Lavin takes to our stage for four encore performances of Now, the show she debuted on our stage in September that had audiences demanding more! New York audiences remember her from It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman, Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Broadway Bound, Collected Stories, The Diary of Anne Frank, Gypsy, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, and many others, and the world over knows her as Alice Hyatt in the long-running hit TV series Alice. A veteran of the cabaret stage, Linda began her career playing such NYC nightspots as The Showplace in Greenwich Village and midtown's Downstairs at the Upstairs. Recently, Linda released her very first CD, Possibilities. This January, she'll be joined at 54 Below by Musical Director Billy Stritch, John Hart on guitar, and special guest violinist, Aaron Weinstein, playing Linda Lavin, Jan. 11 & 12 at 8:30PM & Jan. 10 at 7PM:. After almost two months of voting and the casting of more than 10,000 votes, we know the winners of the 20 categories in the first-ever BroadwayWorld.com New York Cabaret Awards. The biggest of the winners are Ann Hampton Callaway, Jim Caruso and Colleen McHugh, each taking two awards. Other notable winners include: Marilyn Maye, Michael Feinstein, Betty Buckley, Ben Vereen, Jason Robert Brown, Jane Monheit, and Billy Stritch. Many of these fantastic entertainers will be performing at the BroadwayWorld.com 2012 Cabaret Awards Show, which will be held at the Metropolitan Room on February 21, 2013 from 6:30-9PM.

This past week, Klea Blackhurst, Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch brought holiday cheer to the iconic music room Birdland, with their "Swinging Birdland Christmas." For the third year in a row, the performers were accompanied by John Hart on guitar, Carmen Intorre on drums and Paul Gill on bass, along with special guest jazz violinist/comedian Aaron Weinstein.

To kick off its twelfth season, Men Alive - The Orange County Gay Men's Chorus welcomed a very special guest star: the legendary Liza Minnelli. This concert marked her first appearance in Orange County, CA in almost twenty years. This inimitable showbiz icon performed with the chorus at the 3,000-seat Segerstrom Hall on the campus of The Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa for 'Liza Minnelli with MenAlive in A WINTER SPECTACULAR'-an evening of Broadway hits, Pop Standards, and, of course, Holiday Music.

Feinstein's (540 Park Avenue, 61 Street) has announced the swift return to New York of London's fast- rising West End and cabaret singer Joanna Strand, in "Fly Transatlantic". This is her beautifully crafted musical journey through songs with roots both sides of the Atlantic. The performance is tonight, 5 December at 10.30p.m.

Pianist/bassist/singer Steve Doyle will perform two sets as part of the new "Landmark Wednesdays" series of concerts at the historic SideWalk Cafe in the East Village tonight, December 3. Doyle, along with his band, will perform sets at 8 and 10pm.
