The 2009 National Black Theatre Festival (NBTF) is taking place Aug. 3-8 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Shows will be presented at multiple venues throughout the city. Ticket prices range from $7-$42. A NBTF Stimulus Discount Ticket Package is available.

San Franciscos award-winning AfroSolo Theatre Company presents the 16th annual AfroSolo Arts Festival, celebrating African American artists giving voice to the Black experience. Paying homage to and exploring the rich legacy of African Americans and people of African descent, Festival events (August 1-October 15) featuring live music, visual art, and new works for the stage will take place in San Francisco at Yerba Buena Gardens, the Main San Francisco Public Library, the African American Art and Culture Complex, and the Ella Hill Hutch Community Center. Broadway Musicals of 1970 was presented by The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street) on Monday, June 15th at 8PM. Concluding its ninth season with this concert, the critically acclaimed Broadway By The Year® series is known for great singing and spectacular Broadway dancing. The series is created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel for The Town Hall. The show was directed and choreographed by Fred Astaire Award nominee Jeffry Denman, who also performed in the show.
