Producer John Breglio and the Apollo Theater Foundation, Inc. announced today that tickets for the smash hit musical Dreamgirls at the Apollo Theater go on sale Friday, April 17 at 10am. The national tour of Dreamgirls will premiere at the legendary Apollo Theater (253 West 125 Street) for a four-week limited engagement November 7 through December 5. Performances are Tuesday though Saturday at 8pm with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 3pm. MTC MainStage, Music Theatre of Connecticut's Professional Equity Acting Company, presents 'Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill' a play with music by Lanie Robertson and directed by Kevin Connors. Set in 1959 in a seedy bar in Philadelphia, 'Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill' recreates one of Billie Holiday's final performances. Performances are April 24 - May 3, 2009 and take place at the MTC MainStage Studio Theatre in Westport, CT.

Crowns is back in town, and with direction and choreography by Kenneth Lee Roberson (Broadway's Avenue Q, Arena's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill) and musical direction by Grammy nominee e'Marcus Harper, this soulful musical will be bigger than ever in the Lincoln Theatre. Arena favorites Marva Hicks (The Women of Brewster Place) and E. Faye Butler (Dinah Was, Ain't Misbehavin') are joined by NaTasha Yvette Williams (Broadway's The Color Purple), Mary Millben, Kara Tameika Watkins, Phillip Boykin and Zurin Villanueva. Howard University student Villanueva was discovered in Arena's January 'Finding Yolanda' one-day casting search, and this production marks her debut professional performance.

New Village Arts Theatre is pleased to announce two fabulous music events in the coming weeks. First, on Monday, March 16th, the NVA Off-Night Series continues with an intimate performance by two of North County's most highly-regarded musicians, Gunnar Biggs and Bill Bradbury in MANDO BASSO. Then, on Tuesday, April 7th, due to popular demand, Susanna Kurner and Nathan James will return for the third night of unforgettable Jazz & Blues, with even more special guests on the roster. Both performances begin at 7:30 PM and all tickets are pay-what-you-can, with 75% of the box office going directly to the musicians.
