Black Ensemble Theater's Founder and CEO Jackie Taylor announces the 2015 "Stir Up The Pot" Season. The season opens with a World Premiere non-singing drama with music, The Trial of Moses Fleetwood Walker, by Ervin Gardner. The season continues with a new musical that highlights girl groups, past and present, Sounds So Sweet, followed by A Tribute to the Incomparable Bill Withers. The Black White Play is a tribute to Roger Ebert and the music will speak to his philosophy of life. The 2015 season will close with a Black Ensemble Theater classic in true Black Ensemble Theater-style, Dynamite Divas: Gladys, Aretha, Roberta, Nina and Nancy.

Dance Against Cancer raised more than $200,000 for the American Cancer Society on Monday, May 5, 2014. Proceeds from the evening will benefit research initiatives and patient and family service programs. More than 500 guests attended the fourth annual Dance Against Cancer. VIP guests enjoyed cocktails, preferred seating, and a gift bag in addition to the performance and post-event reception. The performance featured new work by Brian Reeder created for American Ballet Theatre's Isabella Boylston with New York City Ballet's Chase Finlay and Amar Ramasar, Paul Taylor Dance Company in its first appearance at the benefit, Charles 'Lil Buck' Riley performed with students from National Dance Institute, and included the NYC premiere of Justin Peck's Sea Change. The Festival will take place at the Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center, 4450 N. Clark Street. This fun and daring Black Playwrights Festival brings new scripts to the BE stage for innovative and engaging readings. These scripts have all been developed by BPI members through the BPI process.
