Documentary HERB ALPERT IS… to Have World Premiere in October

TV News Legend Bill Small Passed Away at Age 93

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today mourns the passing of Bill Small, former CBS News Washington Bureau Chief, NBC News President, United Press International President, and Chairman of the News & Documentary Emmy® Awards from 2000 to 2010. Small died Sunday morning after a brief illness unrelated to the coronavirus. He was 93.

Documentary Series LAUREL CANYON to Premiere on EPIX This May

Premium network EPIX® has announced that its two-part doc series Laurel Canyon will premiere Sunday, May 31st at 10p.m., and conclude the following Sunday, June 7th at 10p.m.  Directed by Alison Ellwood (History of the Eagles), the series features an intimate portrait of the artists who created a music revolution through a wealth of rare and newly unearthed footage and audio recordings.  

The 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration At Carnegie Hall, To Be Hosted By Soledad O'Brien

Rev. Dr. James A. Forbes, Jr., Senior Minister Emeritus, Riverside Church & President & Founder, Healing of the Nations Foundation, in association with New York's historic Carnegie Hall, present the 5th Annual Juneteenth celebration commemorating the "COMPLETE" end of slavery in America for people of color on Wednesday, June 19 at 7:00 PM.  This year marks the 154th year of African American freedom (1865) and the abolishment of the stain of human bondage in America.  It also represents the dawn of a new freedom for all Americans in the United States of America.  This momentous occasion will also observe the 400th anniversary of the first African arriving in the United States in 1619. The program is taking place for the first time at the historic Carnegie Hall, a co-host of the event.

Red Bull Theater Opens Submissions for Ninth Annual Short New Play Festival

Red Bull Theater today announced that their ninth annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes will feature two brand new commissions from Kia Corthron and Will Power, alongside six brand new plays chosen from hundreds of submissions from playwrights across the country. HOME TRUTH, Documentary About Domestic Violence Activist Jessica Gonzales, On PBS Stations In October

In 1999, Colorado mother Jessica Gonzales experienced every parent's worst nightmare when her three young daughters were killed after her estranged husband abducted them in violation of a domestic violence restraining order. Devastated, Jessica filed a lawsuit against the police, claiming they did not adequately enforce her restraining order despite her repeated calls for help that night. Determined to make sure her daughters did not die in vain, Jessica pursues her case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court and an international human rights tribunal, seeking to strengthen legal rights for domestic violence victims. Meanwhile, her relationship with her one-surviving child, her son Jessie, suffers, as he struggles with the tragedy in his own way.
