Northlight Theatre's 33rd Season and Artistic Director BJ Jones' 10th Anniversary Season broke attendance and box office records, surpassed all revenue and fundraising goals and celebrated its first-ever international production with Better Late at the Galway Arts Festival. The theatre is well-poised to kick-off its season in September with its 5-play season and Interplay, its staged reading series of new plays.
The Jim Henson Studios in Hollywood, CA was transformed into an Old Hollywood 1920s Classic Themed Party, replete with breathtaking 20-foot-high Art Deco silver statues and other stunning decorative ornaments from the period, as guests attending the Hollywood Arts Council's Historic Sold-Out 30th Anniversary Black-Tie Gala and 22nd Annual Charlie Awards strolled down a 30-foot-long Red Carpet to a cozy and intimate Outdoor Courtyard Reception and Silent Auction, later followed by an elegant three-course catered Dinner and Awards Show, held on the Jim Henson Studios' Sound Stage on Saturday, March 29, 2008.
Arrivals for The Hollywood Arts Council's 30th Anniversary Gala and 22nd Annual Charlie Awards honoring individuals, businesses and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to Hollywood's art and culture will take place at Jim Henson Studios, historic site of the original Charlie Chaplin Studios and A&M Records and present home of the world-famous Muppets; 1416 North LaBrea Avenue. On March 29, a celebrity and VIP reception with cocktails and a silent auction will beging at 6:30pm with a finner and the program to follow at 7:30. Recepients this year are Bob Mackie (Inagural Fashion Arts Award), the Hollywood Wax Museum (Entertainment Arts Award), the Blank Theatre at 2nd Stage (Theatre Arts Award), Community Redevelopment Agency (Public Art Award), Iron Mountain (Preservation Arts Award), Cinefamily/Silent Movie Theatre (Cinematic Arts Award), AYLA Arslanian (Community Arts Award) and Councilmember Tom LaBonge (Special Recognition Award). Red carpet arrivals start at 6:00 and are scheduled to include Beth Broderick, Maria Conchita Alonso, Connie Stevens, Bob Mackie, the Sundher family (owners of the Hollywood Wax Museum), Mitzi Gaynor, Bob Mackie, Vanessa Williams and many more.
Hollywood funnyman Bruce Vilanch currently appears in the acclaimed Naked Angels production of Spalding Gray: Stories Left To Tell, now playing at the Minetta Lane Theatre
