The Midtown International Theatre Festival 2016 will open with two dozen plays in two days in the MITF Short Play Lab, culminating with the opening of Midtown Variety Jewel Box, 312 W. 36th Street.

Award-winning playwright Phil Paradis, of Fort Thomas, KY, has scored in the Big Apple yet again. Paradis has two more new plays going up on the boards in July in Manhattan.

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) raised a record $10.4 million last night at its Spring Gala honoring Hearst Corporation, as announced by Katherine Farley, chair of Lincoln Center. The event, attended by more than 500 people, lauded Hearst President and CEO Steven R. Swartz, and Executive Vice-chairman and former CEO, Frank A. Bennack, Jr. for the enormous and varied contributions to Lincoln Center made by them as well as by their company. Both men serve on Lincoln Center's Board of Directors; Mr. Bennack was chairman of Lincoln Center from 2005 through 2010, and Mr. Swartz is currently chairman of Lincoln Center's Corporate Fund.

On April 6, Their Most Imperial and Sovereign Majesties, Emperor XXI Ritz Kraka and Empress XXVI Witti Repartee, presented The Night of a Thousand Gowns -- a dazzling display of regal glamour, an opportunity to celebrate the LGBT community, and in particular, the colorful cross-dressing segment of that community. In its twenty-seven year history the Imperial Court of New York has donated over 1.5 million dollars to worthy LGBT, HIV/AIDS and youth enrichment related causes. Sundance Institute announced today the films selected to screen in the 2013 Sundance Film Festival out-of-competition sections Spotlight, Park City at Midnight and New Frontier, as well as the installations and performances to be featured in the Festival's New Frontier venue. The Festival takes place January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.
