Shakespeare's PRISONS Comes to TheaterLab

Smoking Mirror Theatre Company, dedicated to producing Shakespeare's plays in the New York City area, announced that it will present the pre-Off-Broadway engagement of Shakespeare's Prisons: Tales of Conscience and Illusion, June 15 - 18, as a (TLab Shares Hosts) guest production at Theaterlab.

City Lit Names Brian Pastor Executive Artistic Director

City Lit Board President Daniel Robinson announced that Brian Pastor (they/them), City Lit’s current Resident Director and for nine years its Managing Director, will succeed City Lit’s Producer and Artistic Director Terry McCabe, who will retire on June 30, 2024, following the conclusion of City Lit’s recently announced 43rd season.

HEARTBREAK HOUSE Will Be Performed by The Resident Acting Company

 The Resident Acting Company, formed four years ago by the actors of the Pearl Theater Company, is announcing a script in hand performance of Heartbreak House by Bernard Shaw with Austin Pendleton as Captain Shotover on May 31st.  The Resident Acting Company is presenting this at The Players, the historic club and home of Edwin Booth on Gramercy Park.

Review: MY FAIR LADY at National Theatre

The musical revival of My Fair Lady, that came to the National Theatre this past holiday weekend, proves that this classic musical with lyrics and book by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe is an indestructible warhorse of a show that never grows stale. Director Bartlett Sher (with tour direction by Samantha Saltzman) has reinvigorated this masterpiece of superior integration of music, lyrics and book with some salient deconstruction-- but no amount of deconstruction can take away from the emotional pull of this material.
