Love knows no bounds; not distance, nor hardship, nor time. In a story where time is not linear and each scene is a different timeline of the same events it can be hard to follow, but when you trust the script to tell the story and trust your audience to pick up on these concepts, you can focus on making each scene feel real and organic.

It seems every four years, as political primaries come upon us, Americans start thinking more about those far off people in drastically different communities we share this country with. If New Yorkers have had many thoughts about the coal industry recently, they probably had to do with President Trump's vocal support of it in the face of cleaner options.

Someone once asked me, long ago, “Don't you ever get Baroque-d out?” The answer then--when instrumental music was more widely available than vocal--was a firm “no.” Today, when there's the music of Handel and his contemporaries everywhere, the answer remains the same, particularly when it's in the right hands, like Joyce DiDonato (JDD) in AGRIPPINA on disk and recently at the Met. There are also some less familiar--but very much worthy--names, like countertenor Jakub Jozef Orlinski on his Erato CD, “Facce d'Amore,” and mezzo Ann Hallenberg, at Carnegie's Zankel Hall last week with the Venice Baroque Orchestra.
Rehearsals have begun for Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, on stage March 6 through 15. There are twists and turns aplenty in this intrigue-filled story, newly adapted for the stage from Agatha Christie's masterpiece by two-time Tony-nominated playwright Ken Ludwig. This unforgettable mystery takes audiences on a thrilling ride - Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, detective Hercule Poirot must identify the murderer - in case he or she decides to strike again.
Barbara Obermeier (Jellylorum/US Grizabella) and Stefan Konrad (Chairman of Nestwärme Austria) came up with the idea about doing a charity concert as a kickstart for NESTWÄRME in Austria after they ran into each other on the street. As Mondays are OFF-Days for Musical Actors in Vienna, there might be no better day to gather together some fine voices. Spending their only day off doing a concert for a good cause is something you never can take for granted. Obermeier and Konrad brought together an A-List of Top Acts, a few of them sadly had to cancel their performance due to sickness. Instead of cutting the set-list short, others took over some songs on a very short term. Charity Events are sometimes badly rehearsed and poorly staged. It takes a lot of tact and sensitivity and the right bunch of people when you want to create a night to remember. Konrad narrated through the evening with comedy and class. A first-class Conférencier who knows how to flirt with his audience in a charming way.
