Producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris announced today that Christina DeCicco will join the cast of Broadway's high-flying spectacular, Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark in the role of 'Arachne,' beginning Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Katrina Lenk, who currently plays the role, will play her final performance on Sunday, April 21.

According to the New York Times, Julie Taymor came out of her lawsuit against the producers of SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK with better billing. As of March 2011, when Taymor was officially fired as director of the musical, Taymor was credited on the show playbill with 'Original Direction By' just under Philip Wm. McKinley, who was credited as director. Now as per terms in the settlement, Taymor is listed as director above McKinley, who's credit has been changed to 'additional direction by.'

The Actors Training Center Repertory Company,1122 Central Ave., will present the riveting 1960s rock musical HAIR in a limited engagement starting on Friday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. with the press performance on Saturday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. and a special benefit performance on Sunday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. The production is directed by Jeff Award winner Janet Louer, Artistic Director of The ATC Repertory Company. The Sunday benefit performance will feature a wine and cheese reception starting at 6:30 p.m. and a post-show talkback moderated by Louer that addresses the significance of HAIR and the impact of the hippie movement on American culture. Photographs on loan from the Chicago-based National Veterans Art Museum will also be on display in the theater's lobby that evening as part of a special Vietnam exhibit.

Red Bull Theater (Jesse Berger, Artistic Director) today announced that Derek Smith would join the cast for the American Premiere of a new adaptation of August Strindberg's The Dance of Death by Mike Poulton (Tony Award Nominee for Best Play for Fortune's Fool), directed by Joseph Hardy (Tony Award winner for Best Director for Child's Play). This strictly limited engagement begins Wednesday April 10th and continues through May 4th only, at the Lucille Lortel Theater (121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson Streets). Opening Night is set for Thursday April 18th. Hardy directs a company that features Daniel Davis, Laila Robins, and Derek Smith.

The 2013 national tour company of 'HAIR' is filled with a talent cast and an exceptional ensemble. It is a non-stop succession of vignettes and monologues, combined with an extraordinary amount of dance, exquisitely choreographed by Karole Armitage, with innovative scene direction by Diane Paulus.

Three Cat Productions began rehearsals this week for a reading of Light, a new play by Jarrin Davis. Light is the second of seven new plays being performed in Three Cat's Chicago New Work Festival. Rehearsals, taking place all week, are open to the public with a suggestion donation of $5.00. Cornelia Street Cafe presents the Mat Maneri Trio featuring Mat Maneri, viola, Ed Schuller, bass and Randy Peterson, drums. This concert will be the 20 year anniversary of this contrapuntal trio who will be playing a collection of music from their past 3 recordings as well as new material. The trio have worked together over the years to try and push the boundaries of what a jazz trio can be, incorporating fresh ways of interpreting modern classical, swing and other forms of music.
