Forget the 'vs.' The Young Musicians Foundation's Debut Chamber Orchestra (DCO), for the final concert of its 2017/18 season, will transcend the boundaries of these sonic landscapes by juxtaposing and combining the music of L.A.-based DJ, electronic musician and film director Flying Lotus alongside the works of Benjamin Britten and Igor Stravinsky.

When soprano Anna Caterina Antonacci walked on stage at Zankel Hall for her recital the other night, I thought I had wandered into an Antonioni movie, with a ravishing diva (usually played by Monica Vitti) about to perform for a rapt audience. Then she opened her mouth and sang the first of a series of songs by Debussy (texts by Verlaine) and I knew I was in the right place: heaven.

CSO Holds Toy Drive As Part Of THE TOY SYMPHONY Concert For Kids

As part of the CSO's Concerts for Kids series, CSO Music Director Rossen Milanov and the Columbus Symphony have teamed up with the acting troupe Really Inventive Stuff to present The Toy Symphony at the Ohio Theatre on Sunday, March 18. Professor Tympanium van Hammer zee Trumpeterclangor, a whimsical Austrian sound scientist who travels the world with his amazing acoustical laboratory, needs help to complete the melody of The Toy Symphony. Plus, meet the instruments of the orchestra with Benjamin Britten's classic introduction, The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. Children are encouraged to bring their favorite toy to the concert, and bring a new toy to donate to the Columbus Symphony's The Toy Symphony Toy Drive benefiting Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Madison Lyric Stage, an award-winning, professional theater company serving the Connecticut Shoreline, announced that its 2018 mainstage season will include the religious thriller Agnes of God in April, the Stephen Sondheim/George Furth musical comedy Company in July, and the Benjamin Britten suspense opera The Turn of the Screw in October. For the first time, the company will produce, in May, a young artist production of the Stephen Schwartz musical Godspell.

Sarasota Opera Announces 60th Festival Season

Sarasota Opera will celebrate its 60th anniversary season in 2018/2019 as it announced today at a press conference held on the main stage of the Sarasota Opera House in Sarasota, FL. The event was overseen by Maestro Victor DeRenzi, artistic director and principal conductor, and Richard Russell, Executive Director. Performances were offered by soprano Kara Shay Thomson who sang "In questa reggia" from Puccini's Turandot and bass Young Bok Kim who sang "La calunnia" from Rossini's The Barber of Seville. In addition, the audience participated in a community sing of the famous chorus "Va, pensiero" from Verdi's Nabucco.

The Soaking WET series is pleased to add guest ELIZABETH KEEN to the cast of Program B. The veteran artist will perform her 'the Song and the Short of It,' a words-and-movement solo that takes a bemused look/attack on what's going around. The new dance joins earlier talking solos 'Recipe' and 'Red Sweater Dance.'
