Berkeley Rep Announces Summer Classes

Students of all ages can sign up for a summer of fun at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Classes abound in expanded offerings for kids and adults during the School of Theatre's summer session - plus, teens have a special opportunity to spend part of their break in a four-week Summer Intensive or the new Teen Actors Studio. Activities begin July 2 at the Theatre's performing-arts complex in downtown Berkeley.

Northrop Announces Summer Music Festival At Northrop 2012

Northrop Concerts and Lectures at the University of Minnesota presents the 58th Annual Summer Music Festival at Northrop 2012 (SMFN) on Northrop Plaza. A free, outdoor summer concert series, SMFN will 'Rock the Mall' by featuring well-known local musicians and DJs, alongside emerging U of M student bands. Curated by a U of M Student Advisory Committee with Northrop Concerts and Lectures, the line-up presents an eclectic sampling of musical genres including hip-hop, dance music, singer-songwriter, folk, Latin, and spoken word.

Photo Flash: Drury Lane's SWEENEY TODD Celebrates Opening Night

Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane, will present Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award-winning masterpiece SWEENEY TODD, opening August 17 at 7 p.m. and running through October 9. This razor-sharp tale of murder and corruption is Directed and Choreographed by multi-Jeff Award winner Rachel Rockwell (Ragtime and Miss Saigon at Drury Lane Theatre), who was named 'Best Director' by Chicago Magazine in 2010. SWEENEY TODD stars four-time Tony Award nominee Gregg Edelman as 'Sweeney Todd' (nominated as Best Actor in a Musical for City of Angels, Anna Karenina, 1776, and Into the Woods; other Broadway credits include Evita, Cabaret, and Les Miserables and the films Little Children and Spider-Man 2). Bistro Award winner and NYMF Award recipient Liz McCartney stars as 'Mrs. Lovett' (The Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia!, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Les Miserables on Broadway).

Drury Lane Theatre presents AIDA Through May 29

Drury Lane Theatre presents the Tony Award-winning international hit musical AIDA, Directed and Choreographed by Jeff Award winner Jim Corti (Sweet Charity, Meet Me in St. Louis, Cabaret, and Sugar.) Featuring a dynamic cast led by Stephanie Umoh as 'Aida' ('Sarah' in the 2009 Broadway production of Ragtime) and Jared Zirilli as 'Radames' (first National Tour of Wicked), AIDA closes May 29 at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane.
