Giraffes strut, birds swoop, gazelles leap - the entire Serengeti comes to life on stage each night in The Lion King. The Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of Disney's much-loved film transports audiences to a dazzling world of glorious colors, stunning effects and enchanting music to tell the story of Simba and his epic journey from wide-eyed cub to his destined role as King of the Pridelands.

Andrew Keenan-Bolger and More to Spell It Out for Broadway Bound Kids at the 2017 BROADWAY BEE

Broadway Bound Kids, a NYC performing arts education organization, will host its second annual BROADWAY BEE fundraiser on Monday, May 8, at 7pm at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker Street, NYC). The Broadway Bee is an adults only spelling bee, featuring actors from current hit Broadway Shows. All proceeds go to provide performing arts opportunities for NYC youth.

THE LION KING Celebrates 19th Anniversary on Broadway This Sunday

Entering its 20th year, THE LION KING continues ascendant as one of the most popular stage musicals in the world.  Since its Broadway premiere on November 13, 1997, 24 global productions have been seen by more than 85 million people.  Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions (under the direction of Thomas Schumacher), THE LION KING is only the second show in history to generate five productions worldwide running 10 or more years.  Translated into eight different languages (Japanese, German, Korean, French, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese and Mandarin), productions of THE LION KING can currently be seen on Broadway; London's West End; Hamburg; Tokyo; Madrid; Mexico City; Shanghai; Scheveningen and on tour across North America, for a total of nine productions running concurrently across the globe.  Having played over 100 cities in 20 countries on every continent except Antarctica, THE LION KING's worldwide gross exceeds that of any film, Broadway show or other entertainment title in box office history.  

Ben Jeffrey of Broadway's ALADDIN to Perform Benefit Concert for Gateway Center, 6/10

Ben Jeffrey, Broadway star of The Lion King and Aladdin, will perform a one-night-only concert to benefit Gateway Center for Performing Arts on Friday, June 10th at 6:30 pm.  Jeffrey, who is a Guest Artist in GCPA's Summer Master Class Series, will perform family friendly repertoire and be joined onstage by special guests, including performers from the casts of Aladdin KIDS!, GCPA's summer production for Grades K-4th.  The performance will be at the Emerson Theatre at Harris Stowe. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children (children age 2 and under who can sit on the lap of an adult may attend the concert for free). Ticket price includes a meet-and-greet after the performance and are available at: http://www.gcpastl.org/tickets

THE LION KING Opens Tonight at Blaisdell Concert Hall

The Hawai'i return of Disney's THE LION KING opens tonight, Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 7:30pm at the Blaisdell Concert Hall for a limited engagement of eight weeks through March 9, 2014. In Hawai'i, THE LION KING plays Tuesday through Thursday evenings at 7:30pm, Friday evenings at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm and Sundays at 1pm and 6:30pm. There will also be a 2pm matinee performance on Friday, March 7.
