IAMA Theatre Co Opens 10th Season with SINNER'S LAUNDRY and REDLINE

Two new plays offer radically different takes on the search for redemption when IAMA Theatre Company opens its 10th Anniversary Season with two company member-written world premieres. John Lavelle's fast-paced, edgy sci-fi comedy Sinner's Laundry, directed by Becca Wolff, opens for press today, Oct. 20. Christian Durso's haunting and provocative Redline, directed by Eli Gonda, opens on Saturday, Oct. 21. Both plays continue in repertory through Nov. 19 at the Lounge Theatre in Hollywood.

Z Space Celebrates its 25th Anniversary in 2018

Z Space, one of the nation's leading laboratories for the development of new theater works, is pleased to announce its 25th Anniversary in 2018. Among the artistic highlights of the anniversary year are world premiere works by The Kilbanes, The Bengsons, Colman Domingo, Kate E. Ryan, Word for Word and Mugwumpin. Z Space's 25th Anniversary productions exemplify Artistic Director Lisa Steindler's commitment to discovery and excellence. While the new works Z Space produces aren't limited to a particular genre or theme, each is its own unique adventure.

Artistic Teams For Bay Area Playwrights Festival Named: Directors & Dramaturgs

Playwrights Foundation, the West Coast's premiere launchpad for exceptional emerging playwrights has named the artistic teams and daily schedule for the 40th Anniversary Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF).  The 40th Anniversary Bay Area Playwrights Festival runs July 13 - 23, 2017 at Custom Made Theatre, 533 Sutter Street in the heart of San Francisco's Theater District.  In addition to twelve staged readings, the Festival will offer a Theater Professionals weekend 7/21-23, special events, and an anniversary celebration 7/13.  Tickets at bayareaplaywrightsfestival.org.

NCTC to Present THE KID THING

This fall, award-winning playwright Sarah Gubbins makes her Bay Area debut at New Conservatory Theatre Center with the West Coast premiere of The Kid Thing, to be directed by Becca Wolff. Hailed by Variety as "a work of significant depth," The Kid Thing proves good news isn't all it's cracked up to be. When two lesbian couples who have been close friends for years get together for a dinner party, the unexpected news of an impending pregnancy manages to rock both relationships. Emotions run deep in this biting, witty piece about what it means to have a child today.

Encore Theatre Presents HOOKMAN, Now thru 5/30

Encore Theatre Company has announced the world premiere of HOOKMAN, a new play by Lauren Yee whose playwriting credits includes The Hatmaker's Wife and Ching Chong Chinaman. Commissioned by Encore Theatre, Hookman dramatizes the story of Lexi, a student in her first year at college. After losing her high school best friend to a hook-handed serial killer, Lexi must learn what it means to grow up, young and female, in a world that's sometimes dangerous and lonely. Directed by Becca Wolff, Hookman opens in previews tonight, May 6 at Z Below in San Francisco, and runs for three weeks through Saturday, May 30.
