SPACE on Ryder Farm, the non-profit artist residency program located on Ryder Farm, an idyllic 200 year-old working organic farm in Brewster, New York announces its 2016 season for The Working Farm, Family Residency, Creative Solutions Symposium and Artistic Residency programs. 2016 residents include playwrights Adam Bock, Cusi Cram, Daisy Foote, Adam Rapp, J.T. Rogers, Sarah Ruhl, recipients of the inaugural Relentless Award--Clare Barron and Sarah DeLappe--indie folk band Jamestown Revival, Pig Iron Theatre Company, SoHo Rep, and actor and playwright Hamish Linklater.

American Theater Company (ATC) proudly announces Season 32, led by its newly appointed Artistic Director Will Davis and continuing the theater's dedication to developing new works. The 2016-17 season kicks off this September with the world premiere of Dan Aibel's T., an exploration of the competitive ice skating saga between Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding, directed byMargot Bordelon, Sept. 23-Oct. 30, 2016. In the New Year, ATC presents Jaclyn Backhaus' Men On Boats, making its regional premiere at ATC Jan. 6-Feb. 12, 2017, under Will Davis' direction after he remounts his acclaimed New York production Off Broadway at Playwrights Horizons this summer. Next spring brings another world premiere at ATC, Basil Kreimendahl's We're Gonna Be Okay, March 17-April 23, 2017. The production is directed by Bonnie Metzgar and was originally developed at ATC in collaboration with The Araca Group during AracaWorks: Chicago 2015. The final production of ATC's 2016-17 Season is a reimagined classic, Pulitzer Prize winner Picnic by William Inge, under Davis' direction May 19-June 25, 2017. Season subscriptions are on sale now and range from $60-$150, with special pricing available for advance purchases before July 31, 2016. Following last month's announcement of the incoming Jerome and Many Voices Fellows, the Playwrights' Center is pleased to introduce the 2016-17 McKnight National Residency and Commission recipient, two 2016-17 McKnight Fellows in Playwriting, six new Core Writers and three 2016-17 Core Apprentices. McKnight Theater Artist Fellows will be announced in June.

San Francisco's cutting-edge Cutting Ball Theater today announced that after a productive year-long sabbatical, which included directing Much Ado About Nothing at the Old Globe Theater as well as Ondine and A Dreamplay at Cutting Ball, co-founder and Artistic Director, Rob Melrose, has decided to officially step down as Artistic Director to continue to focus on his creative work and freelance projects.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announces the 2015 F*ck!ng Good Plays (festival, VI). The festival, to be presented at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (224 Waverly Place - off 7th Avenue South between West 11th & Perry Streets) will begin Saturday, December 5th, and continue thru Saturday, December 20th. The festival will kick off with readings of new plays by today's hottest playwrights! Playwrights include: Keith Josef Adkins, Dan Aibel, Dipika Guha, Mary Hamilton, Basil Kreimendahl, Laura Marks, Lucy Thurber, and Emily Zemba. The festival will then continue with Rattlestick's annual Theater Jam ending with a workshop production of Daniel Talbott's play, What Happened When.

Pride Films and Plays has announced the results of our LezPlay contest. The judges have named five finalists, including a teleplay and four stage plays. and these writers will have their scripts presented as staged readings during LezPlay Weekend, which runs September 11-13 at the Hoover-Leppen Theatre of Center on Halsted.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you have a story to tell then tell it. Existentialism is fine but don't pack in a bunch of superfluous seemingly non sequitur dialog and lose your meaning as a result. Such is the problem with Fantastic Z's current production of "Sidewinders" over at Richard Hugo House. They may have wanted to discuss gender issues but the story got lost.

American Theater Company (ATC) announces the second year of AracaWorks: Chicago, a new play development workshop in partnership with New York's The Araca Group, Broadway producers of Disgraced, Urinetown, Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune, The Wedding Singer, Lend Me a Tenor, and A View from the Bridge. AracaWorks: Chicago emerged from a collaboration that led to the development of Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar, which received the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and a 2015 Tony Award nomination for Best Play. The program gives three playwrights a weeklong development opportunity at ATC, culminating in a weekend of private readings-with one of the three plays selected to receive a year of development attention.

The Playwrights' Center today announced its 2014-15 roster of playwriting fellows and new Core Writers, who together will receive more than $200,000 in awards and additional development funds. The Playwrights' Center is an internationally renowned play development center and artist service organization dedicated to supporting the development of playwrights and new plays. Core Writers and fellows are selected by independent panels composed of nationally recognized theater artists and leaders.
