Music by the Sea presents Ambre Hammond on the piano and Ian Cooper on the violin - a vivacious blend of Classical, Gypsy and Jazz music at Sandgate Town Hall on Saturday 1st October, 7:30pm. Each a virtuoso in their own right, violinist, Ian Cooper and pianist, Ambre Hammond began learning their instruments before they started school. Classical, Tango, Gypsy, Irish, Country, Swing and the Blues, all delivered with their trade-mark wit and enthusiasm. SISTER ACT is a simple story about nuns in wimples who are taught to let loose in song by a nightclub singer who is cloistered at the convent in hiding from the hoods. This story isn't just black and white. Well, maybe it is. But this foot stomping musical set in 1970's Philadelphia is fun, no matter what.

Based on the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sister Act premiered onstage in the West End in 2009 starring Patina Miller as Deloris Van Cartier and Sheila Hancock as the Mother Superior. The lavish production opened at the London Palladium to critical acclaim and has enjoyed many revivals across the globe ever since. The last major UK production was in 2010, starring the now Tony award-winning Cynthia Erivo which took the same format as the original production. Craig Revel Horwood's new take on the musical, produced by Jamie Wilson, opened officially at the Curve in Leicester last night before it begins its UK tour.

Get ready to rejoice! SISTER ACT, the gloriously funny five-time Tony-nominated musical, is taking the stage at Bill Hanney's award winning Theatre By The Sea (TBTS). SISTER ACT will begin Wednesday, August 17, and plays thru Sunday, September 4, 2016. Press night is scheduled for Friday, August 19 at 8p.m.
