RivFest 17
The River Reeves Foundation is really excited about this year's RivFest17. On 2 September 5,000 music lovers will get together at Priestley College to celebrate sensational bands, enjoy tasty street food, browse craft stalls in the marketplace, and enjoy a drink or two with friends and family. The 2017 line-up includes huge acts like Maximo Park and Billy Bragg as well as local bands including Psyblings and Slydigs.

The Simon and Garfunkel Story
Following its success in London's West End, a sold out UK tour and standing ovations at every performance, The Simon & Garfunkel Story is back. Using huge projection photos and original film footage, this 50th anniversary celebration features a full live band performing all the hits including Mrs Robinson, Cecilia, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Homeward Bound and many more. This is an evening not to be missed.

The Doors Alive
The Doors Alive, the No. 1 tribute band to legendary rockers The Doors, are bringing the psychedelic sounds of the 60s to town with a performance at Pyramid. The band perfectly and effortlessly re-create the sound, look, presence and feel of a real 1960s Doors concert, transporting the crowd back in time. In their homage to the Californian rock gurus they will play classic hits such as Light My Fire, When the Music's Over, Riders on the Storm, The End and more.

The soundtrack has changed slightly from our Northern Soul nights but the upbeat vibe will be the same for the first Motown & Club Soul event at Parr Hall. Enjoy the sounds of the 60 and 70s played by national DJs on original vinyl, with music from Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Diana Ross and The Supremes, The Contours, Edwin Starr and much more. The team of soul DJs will play requests, along with their fantastic selection of soul classics.

Roots Between the Tides
Clair Le Couteur believes Warrington Museum & Art Gallery, one of the world's oldest municipal museums in the UK, has a unique and unusual story which deserves to be celebrated. The artist and composer's Roots Between the Tides is a combination of sculpture, diagram and catalogue which celebrates this; it is a network of about 200 images of the building, its archives and the town, suspended in the centre of the ethnology gallery to create a striking and interactive installation.

Crafternoons at the Museum
Warrington Museum & Art Gallery runs free craft activities for kids every Saturday from 1pm. There's something different to try every week with this month's themes including hot air balloon hanging, surf board sculptures and tiger craft. Last admission is at 2.45pm; all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Borough Charter Display
In 1847 Queen Victoria granted Warrington a Charter, formally making it a borough, and in that year our modern town was born. To celebrate the 170th anniversary of this important event there will be a rare opportunity to see the original document.

Beer, Breweries and the Band of Hope
Brewing is one of the oldest trades in existence and by the Middle Ages every town including Warrington had brewers working on a commercial scale. This display commemorates the 150th anniversary of one of the longest-established breweries, Burtonwood Brewery, as well as focussing on the local temperance movement which grew in response to concerns over drunkenness and rowdy behaviour. This display also features testimonies from some of Warrington's residents who have struggled with alcohol addiction or have ongoing alcohol-related issues.

Bex Ilsley
As the winner of last year's Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival Open competition, Bex Ilsley will present a new body of work which explores the performance of self, particularly in the digital realm. Bex combines a variety of fabricated and appropriated objects, props and locations to construct surreal sci-fi portraits and video works, primarily shared through social media and her website. Distributing images, particularly of women online, provokes questions about the ethics and intentions involved. Ilsley acknowledges this tension but ultimately enjoys the autonomy of creating her own self-image on these digital platforms, seeing the potential for them to be more or less honest, artificial or authentic; they may also travel further and live on longer than Ilsley herself.

Predators
The world's fiercest animals have been spotted on the prowl in Warrington! Explore Dr Herringbone's Predatorium in this new exhibition at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery, featuring specially-selected artefacts, taxidermy and artwork from the museum's collection. This family-friendly display will give visitors a chance to discover interesting and unusual facts about nature's top hunters in a new and refreshing way. From the guts and gore of the hunt to the grossness of animal dung, Predators promises to fascinate old and young alike.

Warrington Art Treasures 2017-18
This is the first of three special exhibitions celebrating important events in the history of Warrington Museum, especially the opening of the main art gallery in October 1877. From its creation in 1848, Warrington Museum has amassed significant collections including works by prominent local Victorian artists who acquired a national reputation as regular exhibitors at the Royal Academy (RA). Some of the best treasures will be showcased in a series of exhibitions marking a joint celebration of the RA's 250th anniversary and landmarks in the creation of the oldest public museum in the North West of England, which was also home to the Warrington School of Art from 1857.

Masonic Tercentenary Display
Freemasonry is the oldest secular organisation in Warrington, with the distinction of having the very first recorded meeting of English Freemasons in October 1646. This display will explore how Freemasons influenced the development of Warrington, from the Old Academy to Warrington Museum, from the Victoria Bridge to Parr Hall. On display will be a late 18th century Masonic apron alongside modern Masonic regalia, Masonic jewels, books and documents.
