Casting is set for the Playwrights' Arena production of "Bloodletting," which Center Theatre Group" is remounting at the Kirk Douglas Theatre as part of the second annual Block Party: Celebrating Los Angeles Theatre. According to Deadline, an untitled musical project based on the life and works of Hans Christian Andersen was just picked up by Fox 2000. Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a script by David Magee, the 'four quadrant epic musical fantasy' will be produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.
Legendary ballet costume designer HOLLY HYNES and costume and scenic designer ZACK BROWN are among the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients which were just announced by TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts. Ms. Hynes was selected to receive the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Brown will receive the Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. The awards are presented through TDF's Costume Collection. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 20, at 6:30pm, at the Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street).
Royal Family Productions, a non-profit theatre company known for its innovative productions and development of new original work, will present a benefit staging of a new series of monologues entitled WOMEN ON FIRE: Stories from the Frontlines, written, curated, and directed by Royal Family artistic director Chris Henry from stories told to her by a group of anonymous women, with choreography from Lorna Ventura. Experience Theatre Project, Beaverton's resident professional theatre company, is extending its run of its fully immersive production of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap at the Cady Building in historic downtown Beaverton, located at 12604 SW Farmington Road.
