Carnegie Hall today announced that 15-time Grammy Award-winning banjoist Bela Fleck, renowned bassist Edgar Meyer, and multi-award winning Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis will join the bill for Live from Here with Chris Thile on Saturday, March 9 at 5:45 p.m., in Stern Auditorium/ Perelman Stage. Opening the Migrations: The Making of America festival at Carnegie Hall, Chris Thile leads an evening that explores the ways in which Scots and Irish traditions helped shape and continue to influence American folk music today.
The ASPECT Foundation for Music & Arts continues its third New York City season of illuminating performances on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 7:30pm with When Tchaikovsky Met Brahms at the Italian Academy at Columbia University. German baritone Benjamin Appl, hailed as "the current front-runner in the new generation of Lieder singers," by Gramophone magazine, will embark on his first U.S. recital tour with pianist James Baillieu from January 6-20, 2019, performing in New York, NY (January 6, 8, 10; Park Avenue Armory); Portland, OR (January 13, Portland Friends of Chamber Music); New Orleans, LA (January 15, 16; New Orleans Friends of Music); Cleveland, OH (January 18, Art Song Festival at CIM; and Washington, DC (January 20, The Phillips Collection). Benjamin Appl was mentored by one of the greatest singers of the twentieth century, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, and records exclusively for Sony Classical. His U.S. tour follows his second Sony album featuring the music of J.S. Bach, which was released in September 2018.
After 80 years of the space being closed to the public, Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust (APPCT) has today given the first glimpse of its Theatre and East Court as finishing touches are being made for the opening events this weekend. The reopening follows the completion of a hugely ambitious, three-year East Wing Restoration Project realised by architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios.

The forthcoming adaptation of Watership Down will feature an original song by Sam Smith, it was announced today. The Grammy, Brit and Academy award-winning artist was inspired by Richard Adams' classic novel to write and record Fire On Fire, an original song that will serve as the theme to the forthcoming animated mini-series. Fire On Fire was co-written with Steve Mac and was recorded by Sam Smith with the BBC Concert Orchestra at London's Abbey Road Studios in September 2018.

The Brevard Music Center (BMC) has announced the return of Asheville-native Noah Bendix-Balgley to its 2018 summer music festival. Bendix-Balgley, the First Concertmaster of the world-renowned Berlin Philharmonic, will perform his own composition, Fidl-Fantazye: A Klezmer Concerto, on July 27th at 7:30 p.m. at BMC's Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium (WPA).
