Brevard Music Center's Summer Festival Presents Asheville's Terpsicorps & New York's WQXR Young Artist's Showcase The renowned Brevard Music Center (BMC) continues its expansive summer festival offering to western North Carolina audiences with the BMC debuts of Asheville's Terpsicorps (July 17) and New York City's WQXR Young Artists Showcase (July 19). Both performances will be held at Brevard College's Porter Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be ordered online at brevardmusic.org or by calling the BMC Box Office at (828) 862-2105.

"Our 2018 Summer Music Festival is breaking box office records!" said Brevard Music Center President & CEO Mark Weinstein. "More audiences than ever before are enjoying diverse experiences in symphony, opera, chamber, jazz, blues, bluegrass, and pops! Next week we proudly add dance to the mix, as well as salute the 40th anniversary of New York's esteemed Young Artists Showcase with a visit from WQXR's Robert Sherman-a revered radio host who shares our mission of showcasing exceptional musicianship by some of the country's most talented emerging artists."

The Tuesday, July 17th, the BMC Presents: Terpsicorps performance spotlights North Carolina's thought-provoking professional contemporary ballet corps in their debut appearance with BMC's Summer Music Festival. Lead by Artistic Director Heather Maloy, Terpsicorps features acclaimed dancers from the most respected companies in North America. The 7:30 p.m. performance will be held at Brevard College's Porter Center for the Performing Arts. BMC Presents Series Sponsor is Hampton Inn-Brevard.

On Thursday, July 19th, Robert Sherman brings his iconic WQXR Young Artists Showcase on the road for its first-ever appearance in Brevard at BMC's Summer Music Festival. The July 19th WQXR Showcase-featuring Brevard Music Center student musicians-will be recorded live at Brevard College's Porter Center for the Performing Arts for subsequent public radio broadcast on New York City's WQXR, Asheville's BPR Classic, and Charlotte's WDAV. Young Artists Showcase is currently celebrating its 40th year as a cornerstone on WQXR, New York City's only classical music station. Lead Sponsor is The Harold W. The 2018 Brevard Summer Music Festival also features a full schedule of unforgettable performances throughout the season, including a multi-faceted Leonard Bernstein Festival; virtuosic pianist Conrad Tao performing Beethoven; a Klezmer Concerto composed and played by Berlin Philharmonic Concertmaster and Asheville-native Noah Bendix-Balgley; and Grammy award-winning artist Béla Fleck, who will bring his inaugural Blue Ridge Banjo Camp and a special finale concert to BMC in August.

BMC 2018 SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL TICKET INFORMATION Tickets to the 2018 Summer Music Festival start at only $20 and almost 50% of all performances are free. Lawn seating at Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium - BMC's 1800-seat, open-air auditorium - is free for children under 17* with a paying adult, and students 18 and older* with a valid ID (*some exclusions apply, including the Season Finale and BMC Presents performances).

ABOUT BREVARD MUSIC CENTER | SUMMER INSTITUTE & FESTIVAL Founded 82 years ago, the Brevard Music Center stands as one of this country's premier summer classical music training programs and festivals.
