Joanne Mosconi's new play You Love That I'm Not Your Wife is set to open at the Avery Schreiber Playhouse in NoHo September 12. Blake Boyd is one of the leading actors in the play.
Tell me about the play from the actor's standpoint and about the character you play.
I play Tony Ciccarelli, an extremely successful entrepreneur who is in love with the idea of being in love. Perhaps not attuned to the feelings of his previous conquests, Tony gets more than he can handle and (hopefully) a life changing lesson in the form of Marie. Tony's relationship with Marie epitomizes the old adage that 'characters get not what they want, but what they need.'

A world premiere written and directed by Mirror Theater Company co-artistic director Trace Oakley, HIGH SCHOOL GHOST STORY is the tale of students rehearsing a spooky play, while being haunted by spirits of productions past and by all matter of specters, apparitions and phantoms who linger long after the final bell rings. The play within the play is 'The Blackwood Ghostlight,' about an old haunted theater, and the grisly series of murders carried out by the theater's lead actress. The casting of the lead sends shock waves through the student body: a girl no-one knows; an outcast so friendless, she's practically invisible. As the students come to terms with the underdog invading their territory, the production is constantly threatened by forces that don't want the show to go on. The terrifying climax will leave audiences chilled to the bone.
Just in time for Halloween, The Mirror Theatre Company at the Avery Schreiber Playhouse presents a stunning re-creation of the classic Orson Welles radio broadcast of WAR OF THE WORLDS. Orson Welles adapted H.G. Wells classic sci-fi story, telling the tale of Martian invasion via a string of urgent news bulletins. The broadcast scared people alright, but not in exactly the way Welles planned. Americans hearing the live broadcast believed that the country was actually under attack from space aliens. Set in a radio studio, circa 1938, WAR OF THE WORLDS uses the original script written and produced by Welles and a sterling cast of veteran voice actors.
