Matthew Hydzik is WEST SIDE STORY's New Tony, December 15

The smash hit revival of WEST SIDE STORY announced today that Matthew Hydzik will officially take over the role of 'Tony,' beginning Tuesday, December 15. After having understudied the role since performances began on Broadway on Monday, February 23, 2009 at Broadway's Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway), Mr. Hydzik will star as 'Tony' opposite Tony Award nominee Josefina Scaglione. Jeremy Jordan (Rock of Ages) will play the role of 'Tony' on Wednesday evenings and Sunday matinees.

The cast of the new production of DREAMGIRLS at the Apollo Theater will perform the title song 'Dreamgirls' and the cast of Broadway's hit production of WEST SIDE STORY will perform 'America' Thursday, November 26, at 9am (EST) on 'The Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS.'

David McCoy, Chairman of the Board) will honor Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway songwriters Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick with the 18th Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre on Monday, November 23rd. The award will be presented to them by Alice Hammerstein Mathias, daughter of Oscar Hammerstein II.
