CHRP Raises $140,000, Awards Dorrance and Young with JUBA!

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP), which fosters social reconciliation through American tap and contemporary percussive arts in world-class, innovative performance, education and outreach programs, hosted its 26th Jubalee Gala November 4 at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Chicago, 220 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago. Attended by nearly 250 people, the event raised more than $140,000 from a combination of ticket sales, sponsorships, a paddle raise, a raffle and contributions.

TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS, Starring Nia Vardalos, Begins Tonight at The Public Theater

The Public Theater presents TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS, based on the acclaimed book by best-selling author Cheryl Strayed and adapted for the stage by Academy Award-nominated writer Nia Vardalos, with direction by Thomas Kail. This richly funny, uplifting new show is co-conceived by Marshall Heyman, Thomas Kail, and Nia Vardalos and will also feature Vardalos as the anonymous online advice columnist 'Sugar.'

Martha Graham Dance Company Presents SACRED/PROFANE, 2/14

The Martha Graham Dance Company's two-week season at The Joyce Theater, February 14-26, 2017, will feature three diverse programs organized under the season theme Sacred/Profane. Classics by Martha Graham and works by four contemporary choreographers, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Annie-B Parson, Pontus Lidberg, and Nacho Duato, will be presented, highlighting the mystical, spiritual, and humorous aspects of magical thinking.

This show has had varying success with this type of episode. Billy Strayhorn Musical LUSH LIFE to Premiere Next Month at the Matrix

CEK Productions presents the World Premiere of LUSH LIFE, book by Carole Eglash-Kosoff, musical direction and arrangements by Rahn Coleman, choreography by Cassie Crump and direction by John Henry Davis. LUSH LIFE begins previews Today, November 11, 2016 and opens Today, November 18 at 8pm. The production runs through Sunday, December 18 at the Matrix Theatre, 7657 Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood.

George Street Playhouse today announced the cast of Daddy Long Legs, a romantic holiday musical running from November 29 through December 24 at the New Brunswick theatre. The musical, with book by two-time Tony Award winner John Caird (Les Miserables, Nicholas Nickleby) and music and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Paul Gordon (Jane Eyre), stars Ben Michael as Jervis, the titular "Daddy Long Legs" who anonymously sponsors the college education of Elise Vannerson's Jerusha. Artistic Director Of Sheffield Theatres Robert Hastie Announces His Inaugural Season

Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres Robert Hastie today announces his inaugural season. The new season opens with Hastie directing William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar bringing Shakespeare back to the Crucible; this will be followed in the Studio by the winner of the new annual RTST Director Award Scheme Kate Hewitt directing the regional premiere of Nina Raine's Tribes.  

CURIOUSITIES Returns at New Off-Broadway Home

After a successful workshop run in August 2016, immersive performance company Deaths Head Theatrical will stage a remount of their hit show CURIOUSITIES. 2016 Melbourne Ring Cycle Announces Subsidised Tickets, Talks, Tours & More

Opera Australia's largest and most ambitious production returns to Melbourne in 2016. Directed by Neil Armfield, Wagner's Ring Cycle will play at Arts Centre Melbourne from 21 November to 16 December 2016. Melbourne Ring Cycle 2016 comprises four operas - Das Rheingold, Die Walkure, Siegfried and Gotterdammerung - totalling around 16 hours of music. As in 2013, the cycle of four operas will be performed three times.
