Edward Herrmann and Helen Cespedes Set for Westport Country Playhouse's Reading of TRYING

Tony Award nominee Edward Herrmann and Broadway actress Helen Cespedes will be in Westport Country Playhouse's Script in Hand playreading of the humorous and stirring historically based drama, "Trying" by Joanna McClelland Glass, on Monday, November 10, at 7 p.m. Director is Anne Keefe, Playhouse associate artist and curator of the playreading series. Tickets are $15.

Westport Country Playhouse's Autumn Script in Hand Playreadings Begin 11/10

Westport Country Playhouse's autumn Script in Hand playreadings will kick off with the humorous and stirring historically based drama, 'Trying' by Joanna McClelland Glass, on Monday, November 10, at 7 p.m., followed by Agatha Christie's classic hodunit, 'The Mousetrap' on Monday, December 15, at 7 p.m. Director of both one-night-only Script in Hand playreadings is Anne Keefe, Playhouse associate artist and curator of the playreading series. Casting for both readings will be announced soon. Tickets to each Script in Hand playreading are $15.

Playwright A. R. ("Pete") Gurney, one of the most-produced playwrights in the history of Westport Country Playhouse, was celebrated for his body of work at the theater's one-night-only fundraising gala, "A Perfect Party: A Gala Evening Honoring A. Michael Gill, Boyd Gaines, Jayne Atkinson & More to Lead Westport Country Playhouse's PACK OF LIES Reading, 3/10

Casting is announced for the Script in Hand playreading of 'Pack of Lies,' a provocative spy thriller, at Westport Country Playhouse, on Monday, March 10, 7 p.m. Actors, all alumni of previous Playhouse productions, include 'House of Cards' stars Jayne Atkinson and Michel Gill, and four-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines, as well as Kathleen McNenny, Alexis Molnar, Mark Shanahan, and Zoe Winters. Tickets are $15. Based on a true story, the play is written by Hugh Whitemore and directed by Anne Keefe.

MARY, MARY & PACK OF LIES Set for Westport Country Playhouse's Winter Script in Hand Playreadings Series

Westport Country Playhouse announced its winter Script in Hand playreadings with "Mary, Mary," a witty romantic comedy about a marriage gone hilariously awry, by Jean Kerr, on Monday, February 10, at 7 p.m., and "Pack of Lies," a provocative thriller about spying, by Hugh Whitemore, on Monday, March 10, at 7 p.m. Director of both Script in Hand playreadings is Anne Keefe, Playhouse associate artist and curator of the playreading series. Casting for both readings will be announced soon. Tickets to each Script in Hand playreading are $15.

Jason Robards Portrait Unveiled at Westport Country Playhouse

Westport Country Playhouse hosted an unveiling of a portrait of the late actor Jason Robards, for whom the theater is named, on Tuesday, July 9. The portrait depicts Robards in the role of Cornelius Melody in 'A Touch of the Poet' by Eugene O'Neill. Donated to the Playhouse by Robards's children, Jake and Shannon, it is displayed in the Playhouse lobby. The portrait artist is Clyde Smith of Silvermine Arts Center. Melissa Joan Hart to Lead Westport Country Playhouse's ANY WEDNESDAY Reading

Melissa Joan Hart, a Westport resident and star of television, film, and theater, will be featured in the romantic comedy "Any Wednesday," a benefit playreading to support Westport Country Playhouse's Script in Hand series, on one-night-only, Monday, July 29, 7 p.m. Director is Anne Keefe, Playhouse artistic advisor. Tickets to the benefit playreading are $100, $50, and $25. Tickets include the playreading and post-performance "Meet the Cast" reception.
