The New York Times film critic A.O. Scott, who recently attended the Broadway production of 'A Little Night Music', offers an exploratory analysis of artistic parallels between the Broadway revival and Ingmar Bergman's 'Smiles of a Summer Night', the 1955 film which served as the inspiration for Stephen Sondheim's'A Little Night Music'

Beechey Sings Sondheim, Schwartz, Finn and Maltby and Shire on Debut CD

Annalene Beechey who starred in the West End productions of 'Marguerite', 'Wicked' and 'Beauty & The Beast', will release her debut solo album next month. The CD features arrangements by Peter White, Jonathan Williams and Richard Taylor. Featured vocalists include Julian Ovenden (Marguerite, Annie Get Your Gun), Rebecca Lock (Avenue Q, Phantom of the Opera) and Simon Greiff (Saturday Night Fever, Spamalot).

The Menier Chocolate Factory's sell out production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's A Little Night Music is to transfer to the West End for a strictly limited run. Trevor Nunn's critically acclaimed production will transfer to the Garrick Theatre from 28 March, with press night on Tuesday 7 April and is booking until 25 July 2009. A Little Night Music is produced in the West End by David Babani for Chocolate Factory Productions, Andrew Fell and Nica Burns and Max Weitzenhoffer for Nimax Theatres.

New Billy Elliot Joins Show's London Cast

From 1 December 2008, twelve year old Brad Wilson from Doncaster will join the London cast of Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre to play the title role, making him the thirtieth boy to play the iconic role worldwide, first performed by Jamie Bell in the original movie. He is joined by Joanna Riding who will play Mrs Wilkinson and Joe Caffrey who returns to the production to play Jackie Elliot, Billy?s Dad.
