The Old Vic, DigitalTheatre.com & CinemaLive are delighted to announce that The Old Vic's five-star, sold-out production of Arthur Miller's The Crucible directed by Yael Farber and starring Richard Armitage ('The Hobbit', 'Into the Storm') will be screened in over 350 cinemas across the UK for two screenings only, Thursday 4th & Sunday 7th December 2014. Since becoming Artistic Director of the Old Vic, Kevin Spacey has proven time and time again that he has the knowledge and understanding to constantly provide London theatre-goers with fantastic productions. Yael Farber's adaptation of Arthur Miller's The Crucible is no exception. Though three and a half hours long, the continued intensity and drama means that the audience is flabbergasted at how quickly the time goes.

Yael Farber directs a visceral re-imagining of Arthur Miller's modern American masterpiece, The Crucible, at Old Vic, which began previews on June 24. Miller used his play about the Salem witch trials to draw parallels with his experience of McCarthy's anti-communist investigations in the 1950's. The Crucible tells the story of one man's fight to save his identity in a repressive Puritan community where intolerance collides with lust and superstition, fueling widespread hysteria with tragic results.

Initial casting for Arthur Miller's The Crucible is announced. Richard Armitage, Anna Madeley and Samantha Colley are to play John Proctor, Elizabeth Proctor and Abigail Williams in Ya?l Farber's new production at The Old Vic, with previews from Tuesday 24 June. The cast also includes Sarah Niles, Rebecca Saire and Zara White, with further cast to be announced.

The cast comprises Caroline Bartleet (a woman), Laurence Belcher (Miles), Eoin Geoghegan (a man), Gemma Jones (Mrs. Grose), Anna Madeley (The Governess), Orlando Wells (Sackville) and Isabella Blake, Emilia Jones and Lucy Morton who will alternate the role of Flora.
