The Eklektix Theatre Company will present a 2-night-only concert staging of the Tony Award-winning Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater rock musical Spring Awakening on May 31 and June 1, 2013 at Houston's Barnevelder Movement Arts Center, 2201 Preston St.

4th Annual SoLow Festival Set for June 20-30

With works that celebrate the solstice to performances inside a Chinese Restaurant, the 4th annual SoLow Festival is experimenting with the theme of "Loners and Rebels." SoLow Festival is an inexpensive artistic event dedicated to presenting new and experimental work in a collective manner. With over twenty performing artists June 20th to 30th, SoLow focuses on the artistic creation and growth of solo artists conceiving new work with low or no-cost risk. The productions will be presented at a variety of non-traditional venues throughout the city (and one in Cincinnati, OH). Audiences and artists are invited to experience the original, unique, and experimental of SoLow Festival with affordable Pay What You Can performances.

Tribe of Fools Sets 3rd Annual Holiday Burlesque for 12/31

Tribe of Fools is bringing back their popular Holiday Burlesque with this year's installment Naughty New Years. Tribe's new holiday tradition provides a holiday themed show for adults. Artistic Director Terry Brennan came up with the idea because "the majority of the holiday season is so geared towards kids that sometimes adults feel overwhelmed and left out. We wanted to provide one night of holiday fun that's just for adults."

The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) presents the 2012 Whatever Theater Festival, running from today, July 31 to Saturday, August 4 at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) and Franklin Town Common. The 5th annual festival features productions of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance, Shakespeare's The Tempest and One Acts. All performances are free of charge, with donations to FPAC gratefully accepted.

A little over one month away, SOLOW FESTIVALl is an inexpensive artistic event dedicated to presenting new and experimental work in a collective manner. Bringing together over a dozen performing artists today, June 14th to June 24th, SOLOW focuses on the artistic creation and growth of solo artists with conceiving new work with low or no-cost risk. The productions will be presented at a variety of non-traditional venues throughout the city. SOLOW FESTIVAL seeks to invite audiences and other artists to experience these original, unique, and experimental performances for affordably low prices.

Review - Chlamydia Dell'Arte: A Sex Ed Burlesque & The Broadway Musicals of 1975

The admirable mission of Gigi Naglak and MeghAnn Williams, writer/performers of Chlamydia Dell'Arte: A Sex Ed Burlesque, is to remove some of the awkwardness in open discussions about human sexuality by treating intimate issues with humor.  Their modestly produced show, which just completed a week-long run at Los Kabayitos, is obviously built to travel, coming to Gotham via stints in Philly and DC, and the amiable pair pulls off their mission with endearing enthusiasm.

Franklin Performing Arts Co to Present 4th Annual Whatever Theater Fest
