Following an auspicious debut at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2016, Canadian Stage, The Musical Stage Company, and Yonge Street Theatricals will present rising Toronto lyricist and composer Britta's Johnson's extraordinary new musical Life After, on stage at the Berkeley Street Theatre September 23 - October 22. This expanded fall production represents an exciting step for a developing Canadian musical.

It's Maddie's 25th birthday party but something's not right - the guest of honour hasn't shown up yet! Join five of Maddie's best friends as they try to sort out where the birthday girl is at while they fight to keep the party's spirits high (and struggle to keep their own dark secrets hidden). This intimate, interactive story unfolds over a series of hilarious and heart-breaking Karaoke-style songs in a party environment where the audience are fellow guests.

Teen Fringe is a new youth arts initiative for teens aged 13-17. The program is created by the Toronto Fringe in partnership with Scadding Court Community Centre and Edge of the Sky, the creative team from the award-winning Wexford Gleeks and the Fringe hits Summerland, The Fence, and Blood Ties.

With great pride and excitement today, Acting Up Stage Company makes a series of major announcements about a significant expansion, along with a robust 14th season, new musical development initiatives, major producing partnerships, and a brand new name and vision.

Opening January 4th and running until January 15th, the 2017 Next Stage Theatre Festival will be the festival's 10th birthday celebration. Audiences are invited to join the party!

Sheridan College's Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP), under the leadership of Michael Rubinoff, Associate Dean of Visual and Performing Arts, is an international centre of excellence for the development of new musicals in Canada. Since its inception in 2011, 15 shows have been incubated, with four having enjoyed their professional premieres (Come From Away, The Theory of Relativity, Prom Queen and Marathon of Hope) and one opening on Broadway in 2017 (Come From Away). The Next Stage Theatre Festival returns this January with a lineup of ten theatre companies that showcase the very best indie theatre in the country.

Young People's Theatre (YPT) has been overwhelmed by public response to the musical, Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang, announcing today the run would be extended due to demand. Originally slated to run from November 16th to December 20th, the show will now run right through the holidays, to January 3rd. A signature production in YPT's history, this action-packed musical - the company's most-produced show and amongst its most beloved - will feature new music and lyrics by the talented young song-writing duo, Britta and Anika Johnson.

Final casting has been announced for BLAME CANADA!, an evening featuring the best in Canadian musical theatre happening at 54 BELOW on Monday, June 15 at 9:30pm. Clyde Alves, who currently stars as Ozzie in the Broadway revival of On The Town, hosts the evening that celebrates work by members of the Canadian Musical Theatre Writers Collective (CMTWC).

Young People's Theatre is thrilled to announce the playbill for its 2015/16 50th Anniversary Season, a milestone marked by the return of beloved audience favourites, re-imagined classics and innovative new work, each a testament to YPT founder Susan Rubes's statement: Only the best is good enough for children.

'Blood Ties', by cast members Anika Johnson and Barbara Johnston, seems to have had quite a journey pre-Fringe. Written when the two were at theatre school, the musical has since featured in various festivals and five years later, its fourth draft arrives in Edinburgh in what appears to be a final hurrah for the show.
