Now in its fourteenth year, the 2017 New York Musical Festival is up and running through August 6th at The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row, The Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Playwrights Horizons Rehearsal Studio, The Green Room 42 @ YOTEL, and The Castillo Theatre in New York City. Dan Markley serves as NYMF Executive Director and Rachel Sussman serves as Producing Artistic Director.  BroadwayWorld was on hand for opening night and you can check out photos below!

New Writers At 54! is a summer series at Feinstein's/54 Below showcasing exciting work by today's hottest emerging voices, curated by Creative and Programming Director Jennifer Ashley Tepper.

Rhinebeck Writers Retreat is presenting the first reading of the new musical, BHANGIN' IT, book by Rehana Lew Mirza and Mike Lew and music and lyrics by Sam Willmott, on May 1 in New York City for an invited industry audience. The reading includes actors Shoba Narayan (Natasha Pierre & The Great Comet), Tony Sheldon (Amelie), Dan Rosales (Spamilton), Angel Desai (Company), and Salena Qureshi.  The reading is directed by David Ruttura (School of Rock) and music directed by James Dobinson (The View UpStairs).

Irish Arts Center, which projects a dynamic image of Ireland and Irish America for the 21st century, is pleased to present Voices Carry: A Celebration of Women Writing, December 6. Organized by author and playwright Honor Molloy and directed by Kira Simring, the event features Ms. Molloy and actors Gina Costigan, Angel Desai and Orlagh Cassidy in dramatic readings of 20th Century works spanning a variety of forms, including memoir, novels, poetry, drama, and radio. The featured texts-by renowned contemporary authors Anne Enright andEdna O'Brien; playwright Gina Moxley; and late writers including Leland Bardwell, Maeve Brennan, Elizabeth Bowen, Lucy Grealy, Maura Laverty, and Claire McAllister-explore the humor, depth, and resilience of Irish and Irish American women.

Broadway's Future Songbook Series - presented by Arts and Artists of Tomorrow continues its twenty-sixth season on Saturday, December 10th in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center located at 111 Amsterdam Avenue and 65th Street.

Sonnet Repertory Theatre celebrates classic theatre for a modern planet with a production of a new musical, The Other Shore, directed by Wade McCollum. The Other Shore is being staged at Classic Stage Company (136 East 13th Street, NYC) and performances are Monday, August 15 at 3:00pm and Tuesday, August 16 at 3:00pm.

Vassar & New York Stage and Film just announced casting for the final weeks of the 32ndPowerhouse Season, running through July 31st at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY.

How can the creative community advance race equity in the theatre? How do artists and producers agree to work together to eradicate yellowface and brownface? What are lessons learned that can be shared? On Monday, May 2nd, 2016, at 7 pm, Beyond Orientalism: The Forum will be held at Fordham University's Pope Auditorium to explore these vital questions. This interactive public event, in which every attendee will play a role and have a voice, features panel conversations, a breakout session, and multimedia components, more than just a series of talking heads.

Prospect Theater Company  in partnership with The Good to Go Festival, led by Producing Artistic Director Judy Zocchi, continues its 2015/16 IGNITE Series at The TimesCenter (242 W 41st Street), Friday, March 4 at 8pm, with the Good to Go Songwriter's Showcase. This concert evening will celebrate new works-in-process created or co-created by women writers from around the country.

The fifth annual Broadway Sings for PKD, a concert benefiting the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, will be offered Thursday, February 25 at 7:00 pm at The Laurie Beechman Theatre.
