Mark Weiss, was a 14-year old kid from New Jersey when he made a deal with a neighbor to cut his lawn in exchange for a 35mm camera. Thus began a lifelong journey of rock & roll mayhem that continues to this day. While in high school, Mark would sneak his camera into concerts, paying off security guards to get him closer to the stage. Mark developed the prints in his parent's bathroom to sell the next morning out of his school locker and then in front of the concert venue that night.

Houston Cinema Arts Society has announced that Jessica Green will assume the role of Artistic Director for the 10-year old Houston Cinema Arts Festival the multi-venue film and arts festival anchored by Museum of Fine Arts Houston that has the distinction of being the only U.S. film festival devoted to films by and about visual, performing, and literary artists. The Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University will exhibit Underperfection from Thursday, April 11 through Saturday, April 27, 2019. Underperfection will feature works by four artists who are graduating from Pepperdine's Seaver College with BA degrees in Studio Art. There will be an opening reception to meet the artists on Thursday, April 11 from 5-7 p.m. The student artists include Wesley Cha, McKenzie L. Cunningham, Tammy Hong, and Jane Yi. The Ford Theatres today announced the 2019 season of events at the John Anson Ford Theatres. The 2019 season will open on Saturday, April 27 with The Spring Quartet: Jack DeJohnette, Joe Lovano, Esperanza Spalding and Leo Genovese, who The Arts Desk described as "an expansive, freewheeling rampage, ideas flying out like sparks from a roaring fire," and will conclude on October 19 and 20 with a Dia de los Muertos Concert and Community Celebration.
