Lakai Dance Theatre Presents New Work At Live Arts

Founded by McKersin Previlus, Lakai Dance Theatre presents The Block: An Afro-Musical at New York Live Arts. With influences of Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Afro-Diasporic styles, The Block takes on the realities of an inner-city life through intricate spoken word verses and musical stories. International Contemporary Ensemble Performs Works Of Polish Composers At ROULETTE Led By Steven Schick

The International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) partners with the PWM Edition and Polish Cultural Institute New York to present 100 for 100: Musical Decades of Freedom at Roulette Intermedium on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 8pm. Conductor Steven Schick will lead performances of works by five contemporary Polish composers in celebration of the Polish centennial of independence: Pawe? Mykietyn, Tadeusz Wielecki, Lidia Zielinska, Aleksander Nowak, and Agata Zubel.

International Contemporary Ensemble Performs Anna Thorvaldsdottir In New Release, AEQUA, On Sono Luminus

On Friday, November 16, 2018, Sono Luminus Records releases AEQUA, the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE)'s highly anticipated second portrait album of the music of composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir. AEQUA features a varied constellation of recent chamber pieces including large ensemble works Aequilibria (2014) and Illumine (2016) led by conductor and longtime ICE collaborator Steven Schick; small chamber works Spectra (2017), Sequences (2016), Reflections (2016), and Fields (2016); and Scape (2011) for solo piano performed by champion of Anna's music, Cory Smythe. Physical package includes both CD and Pure Audio Blu- ray with 9.1 Auro-3D, Dolby Atmos 5.1.4, and 5.1 Surround Sound versions, as well as the mShuttle application containing FLAC, WAV, and MP3 audio files.

Cutting Ball Theater Presents THE CUTTING BALL VARIETY PACK

Cutting Ball Theater's signature festival returns in the 2018/2019 Season, marking the 20th anniversary of the company's founding. The Cutting Ball Variety Pack - called 'half shindig, half artistic salon' by Artistic Director Ariel Craft - is an eleven-day festival dedicated to exploration and collaboration, featuring directorial shorts, new play workshops, and roundtable readings. The Cutting Ball Variety Pack offers an eclectic array of programming with particular delights for the creatively curious from November 8 through November 18. Tickets to festival offerings cost $15 each and all-festival passes costs $30 each. Admission includes a free drink at Cutting Ball's bar.

UMS Welcomes Syrian-American Rapper/Poet For Research Residency

The University Musical Society (UMS) welcomes Syrian-American rapper and poet Omar Offendum as the 2018-19 UMS Education and Community Engagement Research Residency Artist. This research residency program, funded in part by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, seeks to bring performing artists whose work engages with issues of social justice, public practice, or intercultural understanding to the University of Michigan (U-M) campus.

Internationally Acclaimed Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán To Perform in Fort Worth Opera's Mariachi Opera

Fort Worth Opera (FWO) proudly announced today the news that legendary Mexican ensemble Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlan will be prominently featured in the company's 2019 production of El Pasado Nunca se Termina (The Past is Never Finished). Called "The Best Mariachi in Jalisco," this phenomenal group from Guadalajara, Mexico, was founded in 1965 by Jose 'Pepe' Martinez, the late director of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, and his brother Fernando Martinez.

As part of its Live Feed program, New York Live Arts presents the New York City premiere of Bill Shannon's Touch Update, a new work exploring contemporary modes of digital versus interpersonal representation and physicality. Touch Update investigates social constructions and specific physical movement patterns that emanate from disabled bodies. Video wearables and installation art animate corporeal abstractions of dance, digital intimacy and human touch.

Centre for the Less Good Idea Shares Lineup for Season 4

The Centre for the Less Good Idea is excited to announce outstanding collaborative and interdisciplinary work in SEASON 4 scheduled to take place between 16 and 21 October 2018. SEASON 4 is curated by Jane Taylor along side founder William Kentridge and animateur Bronwyn Lace and brings together 20 practitioners in the form of visual artists, architects, choreographer dancers, theatre practitioners, writers, composers and pianists.

Joan Didion's THE WHITE ALBUM receives World Premiere Stage Production

Multimedia artist and designer Lars Jan has been granted permission to stage Joan Didion's seminal essay The White Album. Preceded only by a Broadway production of The Year of Magical Thinking, Jan's production will be the second of Didion's works to be adapted for the stage. The White Album is currently in development, and is scheduled to premiere on October 4, 2018 in Pittsburgh, PA, followed by subsequent performances in New York and Los Angeles.

WaterTower Theatre Announces Terry Martin Main Stage Naming

Cutting Ball Theater Presents UNCLE VANYA

Cutting Ball Theater kicks off its 2018/2019 Season, celebrating 20 years since the company's founding and first production, with a vivid reimagining of Anton Chekhov's enduring classic UNCLE VANYA in a translation by Paul Schmidt. Uncle Vanya is directed by Paige Rogers, Cutting Ball Theater's co-founder and recently exited Artistic Director, the culminating project of Rogers' tenure at Cutting Ball's creative helm. The Gardner's First Choreographer-In-Residence Takes Visitors On A Movement Tour Of The Museum

The galleries of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum will come to life this fall with dancer-led tours, choreographed by the Museum's first Choreographer-in-Residence, Peter DiMuro. The tours, part of a new initiative to animate the galleries with contemporary performances and integrate dance into exhibitions and programming, will take place Oct. 11-25 with a special performance at the Oct. 18 Third Thursday event.
