The first ever recipient of The Patrick White Playwrights' Fellowship was announced at a special event at Sydney Theatre Company on Friday 20 May at 8pm. Playwright Raimondo Cortese was honoured with the $25,000 year-long Fellowship, a new position for an established playwright that will see him participate in a range of activities at STC including leading playwriting workshops and participating in a mentoring programme for two emerging playwrights.

On Sunday 5 December 2010, Sydney's arts precinct throws open all its doors, inviting visitors to explore the many arts companies located at Pier 4/5 ('The Wharf') in Walsh Bay. Resident companies Sydney Theatre Company, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Sydney Dance Company, Australian Theatre for Young People, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Regional Arts NSW, Accessible Arts, The Song Company, Gondwana Choirs and Sydney Children's Choir are all taking part. In addition Sydney Writers' Festival and Biennale of Sydney, who regularly present work in the area, will participate. Bell Shakespeare, who will make their home in neighbouring Pier 2/3, will also play a part. On offer will be opportunities to explore the work of each Company, to visit rarely seen behind-the-scenes spaces, participate in workshops, attend forums, take special tours and enjoy diverse performances of drama, music and dance.

Solar energy took centre stage at Sydney Theatre Company (STC) today as Artistic Directors
Andrew Upton and Cate Blanchett officially 'switched on' the massive solar array on the rooftop
of the Company's home-base, The Wharf, on Sydney Harbour. Comprised of 1906
Suntech pluto solar panels covering the length of the roof (enough to power a staggering 46
average homes), it is Australia's second-largest rooftop solar array and a major component of
STC's comprehensive Greening The Wharf program.
