PILGRIMS MUSA AND SHERI IN THE NEW WORLD to Open 55454 SERIES

Launching the 55454 SERIES, Africans and Muslims in America, is PILGRIMS MUSA AND SHERI IN THE NEW WORLD by acclaimed playwright Egyptian-born Yussef El Guindi. Smart and funny, this winner of the American Theatre Critics' Steinberg New American Play Award is a comic love story centering on a Muslim immigrant who falls in love with an American non-Muslim woman, after immigrating to the US for an arranged marriage with an American Muslim. Hailed as '...a comic charmer and a humane reminder that most of us are pilgrims of one kind or another in this big, complicated, rewarding land we share,' by The Seattle Times, PILGRIMS MUSA AND SHERI... is the perfect opener for Mixed Blood's Series, named after its zip code, which will continue into spring.

Rehearsals Now Underway for 4000 MILES at Park Square

Park Square continues its 2014-2015 season next month with the regional debut of 4000 MILES by Amy Herzog. Winner of the 2012 Obie Award for Best New Play, 4000 MILES is a surprising and moving portrait of a family's distance and their hope in overcoming it. Vera (Linda Kelsey*) is a hippie from way back, but she isn't very welcoming when her aimless grandson (Gabriel Murphy) takes up residence in her apartment. When the play premiered Off-Broadway, the New York Times called it "a funny, moving, altogether wonderful drama… a heartening reminder that a keen focus on life's small moments can pay off in a big way onstage."

BWW Reviews: WAR HORSE Brings Heartwarming Tale to Nashville

This week Nashville is gifted the chance to see War Horse at Tennessee Performing Arts Center. It isn't often that a person can say that a horse is the main character of a play, but that's just what War Horse gives you. Set in World War 1 era England, War Horse explores the relationship between a horse and his boy. When the horse, Joey, is sold to the war effort, his owner Albert can't bare to be apart from him and runs away, lies about his age, and joins the military.

BWW Reviews: WAR HORSE is Spectacular

On the heels of Memorial Day, Broadway Across America - Houston is presenting the First US National Tour of the acclaimed play WAR HORSE. The visually spectacular production first premiered on London's Off-West End in the Olivier Theatre at the National Theatre. It transferred to the West End's New London Theatre, where it is still running. It enjoyed Broadway success at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at New York City's Lincoln Center. It has since been produced in Canada, Australia, and Germany. After seeing this tour, it is no surprise that everywhere the play goes, it leaves tear-soaked audiences speechless and amazed.
