Frank Langella-Led THE FATHER get One Week Extension at Manhattan Theatre Club

Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of The Father, the new play by Moliere Award winner Florian Zeller, with a translation by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, God of Carnage) and directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Doubt, Outside Mullingar, City of Conversation) will extend by one week at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). The limited engagement, which opened on April 14 to critical raves, has been extended through Sunday, June 19.

Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced that HANNAH AND THE DREAD GAZEBO by Jiehae Park is the 2016 L. Arnold Weissberger New Play Award recipient. Jiehae will also receive The Jay Harris Commission to write a new play, a prize worth $10,000.

Black Box Studios to Present THE TALE OF THE DRAGON'S TAIL

Black Box Studios proudly presents The Tale of the Dragon's Tail, created and directed by Josh Kammerman, and based on a story developed by the Apple Tree Players. MasterVoices, formerly The Collegiate Chorale, was honored at the Martina Arroyo Foundation's11th Annual Gala.MasterVoices was recognized along with American couture designer Joanna Mastroianni and The Michel Maurel award-winner Ernst Rieser. Brian Kellow and Terrance McKnight hosted the gala, with performances by the young artists of Prelude to Performance, Jennifer Rowley, Michele Angelini and Cecilia Violetta Lopez (both featured in the October issue of Opera News), as well as other special guests.

Two decades ago, cabaret was mesmerized by the sudden presence of a phenomenal male vocalist by the name of Tom Andersen, who quickly found himself not merely an overnight sensation in the clubs of New York and other major cities across the nation but throughout the globe. Part of his attraction was that, whereas most light baritones will strain and strive to hit notes in the highest register possible, to Andersen it came as naturally as simply drawing a breath; he was a theatrical tenor in the truest sense. And he may well now have an heir apparent in the form of Seth Sikes, who burst onto the scene on June 10 with a striking Judy Garland tribute show at 54 Below on what would have been the legendary lady's 93rd birthday.
