Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that due to overwhelming demand, THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA, the world premiere play currently in rehearsals at MTC, is extending an additional three weeks. The limited engagement, which begins previews on Tuesday, October 22 in advance of a Thursday, November 21 opening at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street), must close on Sunday, January 26. This is the last possible extension for the production.
A vibrant musical odyssey for children and adults, with music and lyrics by Trevor Bachman, Coromandel is a journey through the mind of poet Edward Lear. Over the course of six 10-minute operas, the audience is propelled through the bizarre, colorful, and offbeat worlds of Coromandel. Coromandel is a land running amuck with strange sounds, quirky creatures and new friends. This fusion of rock, jazz, bluegrass, tango, musical theatre, and classical sounds makes for a diverse, delicious, and sonically satisfying evening. Manhattan Theatre Club has just announced complete casting for the upcoming world premiere production of THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA, the new play by Amanda Peet, directed by MTC's award-winning artistic director Lynne Meadow.
New composer Trevor Bachman made his Joe's Pub debut on Monday, August 12 in Songs of a Brave Soldier- a musical chronicle of truth. Wielding music as a storytelling force, this evening of rock, soul, and classical styles is a sampling of two original musicals (Pyre Cantata and Coromandel), as well as brand new songs. Bachman is an indie music theatre composer/lyricist with an eclectic sound, fusing tight harmonies, soulful grooves and addictive melodies, creating an emotional theatrical experience.
