Marc Kudisch, Katie Thompson & More Set for The Coterie: DOWNTOWN/UPTOWN Today

The Coterie, a downtown New York-based music theater company, goes uptown to the Church of the Advent Hope (111 East 87th Street) tonight, September 9th at 8:00pm to present their latest concert of seven world premieres and past favorites celebrating the company's commitment to musical storytelling, from operatic arias and art song to indy rock jams and musical theater numbers.

Three-time Tony Award-nominated actor Marc Kudisch (Thoroughly Modern Millie, 9 to 5, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) joins Lauren Worsham (Dog Days, Where's Charley?), Joshua Jeremiah (Anna Nicole, La Perichole), Katie Thompson (Giant), Theresa McCarthy (Queen of the Mist, Floyd Collins, Titanic), Eve Gigliotti (Dark Sisters, Die Walkure at the Metropolitan Opera), Amelia Watkins (Sumeida's Song, Song from the Uproar), Jeff Gavett (loadbang), Cree Carrico (New York Philharmonic's Carousel) in singing for 'The Coterie: Downtown/Uptown.'

NYMF's BEND IN THE ROAD to Play Additional Performance Tomorrow

BEND IN THE ROAD, a new musical comedy, is an official selection of the New York Musical Theatre Festival's (NYMF) 2013 Next Link Project. The entire run sold out so quickly that NYMF recently announced that the production will play a special added performance on Thursday, July 25that 1PM. Under the direction of Benjamin Endsley Klein, the 14-member cast of BEND IN THE ROAD features Alison Woods (THE FANTASTICKS, 'Big Love') as Anne Shirley, Martin Vidnovic (OKLAHOMA!, THE KING AND I, GUYS AND DOLLS, BRIGADOON, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, BABY), Jordan Barrow, Mimi Bessette (THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS, BONNIE AND CLYDE), Brandon Essig, Kasie Gasparini, Justine Huxley (MAX AND RUBY), Anne Kanengeiser (RAGTIME, LITTLE WOMEN), Kevin Ligon (KISS ME, KATE, THE SECRET GARDEN), CJ Pawlikowski, Maureen Silliman (SHENANDOAH, I REMEMBER MAMA), Chelsea Stavis, Rachel Weintraub ('Saturday Night Live'), and Whitney Winfield(SHREK).

BEND IN THE ROAD, a new musical comedy, is an official selection of the New York Musical Theatre Festival's (NYMF) 2013 Next Link Project. The shows stars, Martin Vidnovic and Alison Woods, recently caught a performance of the world's longest-running musical THE FANTASTICKS at the Snapple Theater Center. Both have strong ties to the show as Martin starred as Bellomy in this current revival and he played El Gallo in the original Sullivan Street Playhouse production in the 1970s. And Alison was selected by director Jason Alexander to play the leading role of Luisa in his all-star production of THE FANTASTICKS at Reprise with Eric McCormack and Lucas Grabeel. The New Voices Collective to Present NEW VOICES, NEW BLUE With Jenny Powers, Drew Gehling and More, 4/15

The New Voices Collective will present NEW VOICES, NEW BLUE: A Celebration of Songs by Yale Musical Theatre Writers, Past and Present on Monday, April 15, at 8:00 p.m. The concert will explore work by some of Yale's most exciting and famous alumni, as well as current composers in the Shen Musical Theatre writing program at Yale University. An amazing cast of Broadway's finest voices will include Drew Gehling (Jersey Boys, On a Clear Day..., The Minister's Wife), Jenny Powers (Its A Bird...Its a Plane...Its Superman, Donnybrook, Grease, Little Women), Sally Wilfert (Assassins, Make Me A Song, See Rock City), and Michael Winther (Laramie Project Cycle, 33 Variations, Mamma Mia, Songs From An Unmade Bed) and J. Michael Zygo (Once, Rock of Ages), and will also feature emerging talent from Yale's musical theatre performance program.

Village Theatre Announces 2013-14 Season

Village Theatre's 2013-2014 season will deliver an extended nine-week Issaquah holiday run of Les Miserables followed by the traditional four week run in Everett.

Rhinebeck Writers Retreat Now Accepting Applications

Kathy Evans, Founder and Executive Director of the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, announced that applications are open to all musical theatre writers for eight retreats taking place in Summer 2013. Rhinebeck Writers Retreat provides a writing team with a weeklong residency to work on their musical in a private home near Rhinebeck, New York. There will be eight one-week retreats offered between June 22 and August 25th. Applications are due February 28 and the submission fee is $20. The submitted musical can be at any stage of development, as long as it has not been published or licensed. All information, guidelines, and online application can be found at www.rhinebeckwriters.org.

CLOSER THAN EVER Resumes Tonight; Offers Free Ticket to Replace Any Cancelled Off-Broadway Show

The critically acclaimed first Off-Broadway revival of the of Closer Than Ever, with lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and music by David Shire, will end its extended run with its 150th performance on Sunday evening, November 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue) where performances began June 5, 2012.
