U.K.'s 55th Annual Evening Standard Award Nominees Announced: Celebrate Spacey, McKellen, Mendes, and More, 11/23

The 55th Annual Evening Standards Theatre Awards, honoring outstanding achievements in London Theater, today has released their long list of 2009 nominees. The award ceremony, which will take place on November 23 at the Royal Opera House, will honor some of theater's biggest stars, including Ian McKellen, Kevin Spacey, Sam Mendes, and more. Sponsored by U.K'.s Evening Standard newspaper, with nominees selected by a panel of London theater critics, the shortlist of nominees will be sometime next week.

LCT To Present A.R. Gurney's THE GRAND MANNER At The Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, Lamos To Helm

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) will present the world premiere of A.R. Gurney's new play THE GRAND MANNER, directed by Mark Lamos, this spring in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Performances will begin Thursday, May 27. Opening night is scheduled for Thursday, June 24.

LCT Presents Cromer Helmed 'WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING' At The Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) by arrangement with Jean Doumanian and Freddy DeMann will produce the American premiere of WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING, a new play by Andrew Bovell, directed by David Cromer. Previews begin at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 W. 65 Street) on Thursday, February 11. Opening night is Monday, March 8.

STC's WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING Extended Until 20 June

Due to popular demand, When The Rain Stops Falling by Andrew Bovell, presented as part of Sydney Theatre Company?s 2009 Main Stage Season will run until 20 June, instead of closing on 13 June as previously advertised. The extension follows Sydney critics? praise for this ?beautiful, profoundly moving drama? (Sunday Telegraph) from Adelaide?s Brink Productions, giving it ratings of ?four-and-a-half out of five? and ?nine-out-of-ten?. A new production of Bovell?s play, directed by Michael Attenborough has only just opened at London?s Almeida Theatre.
