Theatre Out has announced the first-ever sequel to their smash hit holiday musical, Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart But The Very Next Day You Said You Were Gay.
Always edgy and never dull, Theatre Out--Orange County's Gay and Lesbian Theater company--has continually presented some interesting theater offerings since its remarkable debut in 2006. Its current production, a rambunctious revival of Andrew Lippa's topsy-turvy musical THE WILD PARTY, is no exception, as it corrals a huge pool of talents to tell the story of a bacchanal gone horribly, horribly awry. The show plays at the Empire Theatre in the Santa Ana Arts District through July 2.
Theatre Out, Orange County's gay and lesbian theatre, presents the Southern California Premiere of the new musical BOYS WILL BE BOYS from Oct. 15 through Nov. 20 at the Empire Theatre in Santa Ana, CA.
Theatre Out, Orange County's sole gay-and-lesbian theater company, has put on, in its short history of existence, a candy-colored selection of campy, outrageous productions through the years. Perhaps its most overtly homo-celebratory yet is its latest offering, the so-gay-it-bleeds-rainbows original new musical BOYS WILL BE BOYS, with performances continuing at the Empire Theater in Santa Ana through November 20. The intermission-less, 75-minute musical revue-a mixture of Broadway parodies, over-the-top high-jinks, funny tunes with an endless pride parade of double-entendres, and even a few touchingly melancholy moments-is a fairly entertaining musical showcase delivered by an ensemble cast of really talented, strong voices.

Theatre Out, Orange County's gay and lesbian theatre, presents the Orange County Premiere of the musical ZANNA, DON'T! This musical fairy tale follows magical match-maker Zanna as he tries to find love for his friends at Heartsville High. But things go awry at Heartsville High as the drama club tackles the important social issue of heterophobia in their school musical, only to find out there might be heterosexuals living among them. The production plays at the Empire Theater in Santa Ana from June 25 through July 31.
What do you get when you grab a bunch of perky high school students and have them all magically fall in love while putting together the school musical, all while wearing bright, rainbow colored-preppy wear? If you said High School Musical, then you're... well, okay, you're right. But actually, the same description can be applied to another high school-set musical fairy tale-this one, though, has a particularly significant difference. This one is called ZANNA DON'T!, the latest production at Orange County's Theatre Out now playing through July 31. The Gay and Lesbian Theater group's revival of the 2003 off-Broadway show (which featured Queer Eye's Jai Rodriguez in the original title role) sprinkles this high school musical with a lot of winks, twinks, and plenty of sequin-accented costumes.
