San Francisco Opera's IN SONG Wins 2022 Webby People's Voice Award

The Webby Awards announced today that San Francisco Opera’s intimate video portrait series In Song, produced with Lumahai Productions, won the 2022 “Webby People’s Voice Award” for best music “Video Series & Channel.” In a competitive category of five nominees including NPR, Pitchfork and Soundcloud, In Song received the most online votes cast between April 5 and April 21 for “the Internet’s highest honor” (New York Times). In Song was also nominated for the 2022 Webby Award for best music “Video Series & Channel,” for which the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences selected In The Know x Complex: Making it.

To celebrate the release of this new episode, a live conversation between the Samoan-born tenor and In Song director and executive producer Elena Park will be streamed Thursday at 4 pm Pacific on Facebook and YouTube.

San Francisco Opera Announces Casting Update For Gounod's ROMEO & JULIET

San Francisco Opera today announced a cast change for Charles Gounod's Romeo and Juliet (Roméo et Juliette), which opens the Company's 97th season on September 6, 2019 and runs for seven performances through October 1 at the War Memorial Opera House. Samoan-born New Zealand tenor Pene Pati, originally scheduled to sing Romeo on October 1, will perform the role in all performances, replacing Bryan Hymel who has withdrawn for personal reasons.
