Transport Group's Production of THE BOYS IN THE BAND Extends Through 3/28

Following rave reviews and sell-out houses, Transport Group (TG), the winner of a special 2007 Drama Desk Award and a 2007 Obie Award, has announced that its production of Mart Crowley's The Boys in the Band, directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III, will extend for two weeks through Sunday, March 28.

The League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), a non-profit organization committed to promoting visibility and increasing opportunities for women in the professional theatre, has announced Victoria Bailey as the guest speaker at the LPTW's annual Leadership Luncheon. Ms. Bailey will share her insights into cultivating new audiences for the theatre during the keynote address. The luncheon will take place February 25th at 2:00pm at Sardi's Restaurant.

New York's Summer Play Festival (SPF) is partnering with Germany's Theatre Bielefeld for the second year as part of the Voices of Change Festival in Bielefeld, Germany from April 22 - 25, 2010. This year's selected playwright is Alena Smith, whose play The Sacrifices (SPF 2009) will be translated into German, and receive a workshop production as part of the Festival.

Cygnet Theatre Company, currently presenting August Wilson's The Piano Lesson, is proud to offer off-night encore performances of the San Diego Black Theatre Collective's On the Horizon staged-reading series, featuring new plays by writers of diversity. The readings include Trane, A Noble Journey, directed by Hassan El-Amin; Ain't You Heard, directed by Calvin Manson; and The Strangest Fruit, directed by Antonio TJ Johnson and will run Tuesday nights February 9th, 16th and 23rd at 7pm in Cygnet's Old Town Theatre.

The Pulitzer Prize and Obie Award-winning Theatre for the New City (TNC) will hold its 7th Annual LOVE 'N' COURAGE Gala on Monday, February 22nd at the National Arts Club, this year honoring the beloved acting couple Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson, as well as Martha Coigney, director of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in the U.S. for over 35 years, it has been announced by Crystal Field, co-founder and artistic director of Theater for the City.
