Cygnet Theatre Company, currently presenting August Wilson's The Piano Lesson, is proud to offer off-night encore performances of the San Diego Black Theatre Collective's On the Horizon staged-reading series, featuring new plays by writers of diversity. The readings include Trane, A Noble Journey, directed by Hassan El-Amin; Ain't You Heard, directed by Calvin Manson; and The Strangest Fruit, directed by Antonio TJ Johnson and will run Tuesday nights February 9th, 16th and 23rd at 7pm in Cygnet's Old Town Theatre.

There is a suggested $10 donation and all proceeds go directly to the San Diego Black Theatre Collective.

Cygnet and the San Diego Black Theatre Collective - including Common Ground Theatre, the Ira Aldridge Repertory Players, the San Diego Black Ensemble and the Vagabond Theatre Project - are uniting to cross market their separate productions and encourage San Diego audiences to see a variety of powerful works written by African American Playwrights throughout Black History Month.

The San Diego Black Theatre Collective's On the Horizon Series began last night and runs at 7pm on Mondays at the Lyceum Underground Theatre, located at 79 Horton Plaza, through February 22nd.

The "encore" Tuesday readings begin next week at Cygnet's Old Town Theatre and run through Feb. 23rd. For more information, please call the San Diego Black Theatre Collective at 619-263-7911. Reservations can also be made through the Cygnet box office at 619-337-1525.
