Abingdon Theatre Company presents the New York premiere of John Morogiello's ENGAGING SHAW -- a new Off-Broadway play following the real-life courtship and battle of wits between socialite Charlotte Payne-Townshend and playwright George Bernard Shaw -- with Off-Broadway previews to begin April 9, prior to its official press opening April 18 at Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex's Dorothy Strelsin Theatre (312 West 36th Street) in Manhattan. Jackob G. Hofmann to direct.

Philadelphia Theatre Company announces that two-time Tony Award-nominee and film actress Kathleen Turner will star in the world premiere of Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins by Margaret Engel and Allison Engel. Directed by award-winning director David Esbjornson, this one-woman play based on the writings of the late political journalist Molly Ivins will take the slot previously slated for Mauritius by Theresa Rebeck. 'Red Hot Patriot' runs through April 18, 2010.

The Public Theater & Signature Theatre to Premiere Tony Kushner's INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL'S GUIDE in '11

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) and Signature Theatre Company (Founding Artistic Director James Houghton; Executive Director Erika Mallin) announced today that the New York premiere of Tony Kushner's THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL'S GUIDE TO CAPITALISM AND SOCIALISM WITH A KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES will be presented in the 2010-2011 season in a co-production between The Public Theater and Signature Theatre Company, in association with the Guthrie Theater. Michael Greif, who directed the world premiere at the Guthrie in April, 2009, will direct the New York premiere, which will play March 22-June 12, 2011 at The Public Theater. Casting will be announced at a later date.
