The acclaimed Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) gives three performances at the Auditorium Theatre on November 18, 19, and 20 with a program that includes System, a major new work by choreographer Francesca Harper. The work is supported by the New England Foundation for the Arts, and is inspired by the current social, political, and economic climate in the United States.System was choreographed in collaboration with Dance Theatre of Harlem dancers who used their own experiences as people of color for inspiration.  DTH Artistic Director Virginia Johnson told the Washington Post that System "addresses social justice issues in the Black Lives Matter era" and is "a very contemporary piece, but also very beautiful and uplifting.' A live string quartet performs composer John Adams' original music for the piece.

Colorado Ballet opens its 56th season with 11 performances of the romantic classic Swan Lake, October 7-23, 2016at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's classic score performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. 

Rubicon Theatre Company has announced the complete cast of RETURN TO THE FORBIDDEN PLANET, a fabulously campy send up of 'Forbidden Planet' and other sci-fi film and TV shows of the 1950s which melds plot elements from The Tempest with language from multiple plays by Shakespeare.

The City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) continues its 2016 - 2017 season with Jeremy McQueen and the Black Iris Project's "MADIBA: A Dance Workshop," a celebration of the inspiring life of Nelson Mandela. The workshop is open to dancers of all levels and nondancers alike and takes place at Aaron Davis Hall from 12  to 2 p.m. on Today, October 6. The program is supported in part by the CUNY Dance Initiative (CDI), a City University of New York-wide residency program now in its third year.

New York Theatre Ballet will present a new installment of its highly acclaimed Legends & Visionaries series at Danspace Project (131 E 10th St, NYC, 10003) on October 6 and 8, 2016 at 8pm, as part of Danspace Project's Community ACCESS series*.  The evenings will include the World Premiere of a new piece by Antonia Franceschi set to an original musical score by Claire van Kampen.  

NEW YORK THEATRE BALLET Announces 2016-17 Season New York Theatre Ballet announces the 2016-17 season, which will include repertory performances throughout the year.

American Ballet Theatre will present the World Premiere of an all-new production of Whipped Cream, a two-act ballet choreographed by Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, with sets and costumes by artist Mark Ryden, March 15, 2017 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California.

Lincoln Center once again welcomes costumed kids and families for a festive Halloween celebration. Hosted by the LC Kids program, the all-ages event will feature trick-or-treating around the cultural campus, a parade to live music, a haunted scavenger hunt, a David Bowie tribute concert and dance party, and a number of additional free activities to delight all ages. Last year's inaugural Trick-or-Treat event welcomed more than 10,000 people to Lincoln Center, marking it as a destination for families and children of all ages to celebrate Halloween.

American Repertory Ballet is pleased to announce A Midsummer Night's Dream at the State Theatre on Thursday, October 13 at 8:00 p.m. The performance is part of its 2016 fall series. Led by Artistic Director Douglas Martin, ARB will once again present the finest ballet available to the residents of New Jersey and beyond. Tickets are currently available and start at $27.

The internationally renowned modern dance company Parsons Dance performs at Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre in Malibu today, October 5 at 8 p.m.

Meany Center for the Performing Arts, presents the Seattle debut of Jessica Lang Dance. Hailed as "a master of visual composition" by Dance Magazine, Jessica Lang, the recipient of a 2014 Bessie Award, seamlessly incorporates striking design elements and transforms classical ballet language into artfully crafted, emotionally engaging contemporary works.

The Joffrey Ballet is pleased to announce a major leadership reorganization for the Joffrey Academy of Dance featuring a new team comprised of respected dance industry veteran Raymond Rodriguez as Head of Studio Company and Trainee Program, effective late October, and Joffrey Ballet's Karin Ellis-Wentz as Head of Pre-Professional Programs, effective immediately. Both of these newly created director-level positions will report to Karine Provost, who will serve in a newly elevated role as Academy Director. Additionally, Joffrey Ballet's Artistic Director Ashley Wheater will now serve as Artistic Director of both the Academy and the Company - assuming creative leadership across the organization. 

Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Cara Reichel, Producing Artistic Director, and Melissa Huber, Managing Director, continues its 2016 IGNITE Series with two special one-night-only events at The Times Center (242 West 41st Street, NYC).
