The New York Choral Society (NYChoral) under the direction of its music director David Hayes will ring in the holiday season with a Christmas concert at Alice Tully Hall on Wednesday evening, December 21st, at 7:30 p.m. The program, featuring soloists Frederick Ballentine and Justin Hopkins, will present works by two musical giants of 20th Century American choral music, Robert Shaw, whose 100th birthday would have been this year, and Robert De Cormier, NYChoral Music Director Emeritus, who was awarded the 2016 Michael Korn Founders Award by Chorus America for his lifetime contribution to the choral arts. The concert will also include works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Elizabeth Poston, and James MacMillan, and will end with an audience sing-along of beloved Christmas carols. The Nutcracker is a holiday season tradition for countless young dancers whose annual turn in the Christmas fantasy marks a celebrated rite of passage. The chance to take part in the enchanting production, full of pageantry and splendor, engages the starry-eyed child dancer, while more advanced ballerinas relish opportunities to be cast in progressively more challenging roles.

Neglia Ballet Artists' annual production of The Nutcracker is back to kick off the holiday season with a Thanksgiving weekend of performances at Shea's Buffalo Theatre with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra performing live. Audiences will delight in this annual holiday production as we follow Marie on her journey through a wondrous battle scene, breathtaking winter wonderland and delectable land of sweets. The Buffalo News called this production “a holiday spectacle capable of eliciting wide-eyed wonder in children of all ages.”

Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber are proud to announce the final extension of Porchlight's 22nd season opener, the multi-Tony Award-winning In The Heights, now playing through Saturday, Dec.31, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, book by Quiara Alegria Hudes. Directed and co-choreographed by Brenda Didier, co-choreographed by Chris Carter, music directed by Diana Lawrence and assistant directed by Adrian Abel Azevedo, at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. The regular scheduled performance times are Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $55 - 75. As expected this time of year as TV ads, wreaths and shopping center crowds, 'The Nutcracker' has by now gone beyond being merely a beloved holiday tradition to possibly being the country's most performed work of any type - dance, music or theater. Multiple productions of it appear in dozens of cities year after year and is as much a part of family custom by now as opening presents.

Cincinnati Ballet has been invited to present seven performances of The Nutcracker at the famed John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., November 23 through 27, with the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky's sensational holiday score.

This Hanukah season, Segerstrom Center for the Arts welcomes superstars of the klezmer world, the Klezmatics on December 22 in Samueli Theater.

Garden Theatre and the Orlando Ballet present Arcadian Broad's Beauty & The Beast on November 19, 2016 at 2pm and November 20 at 2pm as part of the Garden Theatre's 2016-2017 Live Season.

The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) presents The Nutcracker, bringing special guest artists, a 27-piece orchestra, and more than 100 area dancers to one suburban stage.

Professional rigger Rocky Paulson, lighting designer Fred Foster, costume designer Liz Covey, sound designer Rick Thomas, scenic designer Santo Loquasto, production stage manager Joseph Drummond, and educator John Conklin will be honored with USITT Distinguished Achievement Awards at USITT's 2017 Annual Conference & Stage Expo in St. Louis March 8-11.

The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is pleased to announce that the prestigious Genée International Ballet Competition Final at the Sydney Opera House on 11 December 2016 will be live streamed from Sydney Opera House online. Hosted by Australian TV presenter and Dancing with the Stars 2015 winner Emma Freedman, viewers will have the opportunity to witness some of the world's most talented young ballet dancers compete in the renowned competition judged by David McAllister, Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet, Kevin O'Hare, Director of The Royal Ballet, and Francesco Ventrigilia, Artistic Director of the Royal New Zealand Ballet.
