Brown, in a word will preview from September 8 through September 15; regular performances will begin September 16 and continue through October 8 at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken theater arts Center on the Fyda-Mar Stage.

The Orange County Playwrights Alliance opens its 2017 programming with staged readings of four new one-act plays from dramatists who have been produced locally and across the U.S.

In the American Coast Theatre Company's West Coast premiere of LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE, playwright Warren John Doody has brilliantly adapted Dr. Elizabeth Dermody Leonard's verbatim transcripts of interviewed, incarcerated women into a brutal, unrelenting look at our current justice system. Susan K. Berkompas directs her very talented and committed cast with the precision of a surgeon in a tightly-paced, illustrative narrative of what put these five women in prison.

Four Clowns' founder and former artistic director Jeremy Aluma has deftly infused his Four Clowns magic directing his contemporary version of the classic HAMLET just finishing its run at the Lyceum Theater. Eschewing Shakespeare's couplets and metrics, this normal-speak HAMLET could be in any time period where fedora-ed men wear three-piece suits and ties while women can wear baggy pastel-colored pants and a beret.

American Coast Theater Company, the resident professional theater of Vanguard University, will perform its 2016 Summer Series, beginning June 3. The two plays, Hamlet and Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead will be performed in repertory, in the Lyceum Theater on Vanguard's Costa Mesa campus. 

SOC'S hit production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, co-produced with Hitia O Te Ra, has added two more performances due to popular demand. It's a tough thing to follow up such a widely acclaimed show as Azeotrope's offering of "Jesus Hopped the A Train" last season. Especially when you only put up one show a season. And while their current production of "Gruesome Playground Injuries" may not be as engaging of a script, the cast and crew still manage to show off what solid professionals can do.

This summer, Shakespeare Orange County's Artistic Director, Tom Bradac gets to cross one item off his list that's been on it for a very long time - namely, to go to The Fringe. Little did he know that it would be in a very unique city (Prague, CZ) with a very unusual project (Shakespeare's rarely produced erotic poem Venus and Adonis).

SOC will stage William Shakespeare's 'VENUS AND ADONIS' for two performances only - at the Festival Amphitheatre (August 10-11). 'RICHARD III' continues to play through August 4.
