TheatreWorks Presents "A CHRISTMAS MEMORY", based on the story by Truman Capote

In a big-hearted, gloriously tuneful world premiere musical from a team of celebrated Broadway veterans, Truman Capote's enchanting holiday tale A CHRISTMAS MEMORY springs to life at TheatreWorks, the nationally acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley.

Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Stephen Eich, Executive Director) announced principal casting for the new musical DANGEROUS BEAUTY by Jeannine Dominy (book), Amanda McBroom (lyrics) and Michele Brourman (music). Joining the principal cast, with previously announced lead actress Jenny Powers (Broadway's Grease) as Veronica Franco, are James Snyder (Drama League Award-nominee for Broadway's Crybaby) as Marco, Bryce Ryness (Drama Desk Award-nominee for Broadway's Tony Award-winning revival of Hair) as Maffio, Laila Robins (Broadway's Heartbreak House) as Paola, Michael Rupert (Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Sweet Charity) as Domenico, Megan McGinnis (Ovation Award-nominee for the Rubicon Theatre's Daddy Long Legs) as Beatrice, John Antony (Broadway's Passion) as Pietro and Morgan Weed (Second Stage Theatre's Next to Normal) as Giulia. Tony Award-nominee Sheryl Kaller directs the world premiere, which begins performances on February 1, 2011 with the official press opening on February 13, 2011 at Pasadena Playhouse (39 S. El Molino Avenue).

Matchmaker, Matchmaker: I'm Willing to Settle, a musical guide to Internet dating with Nikki MacCallum will be featured at The Duplex (61 Christopher Street at Seventh Avenue) on October 2 at 4:30pm, October 3 at 7pm November 1 at 7pm.

Lyricist Amanda McBroom (Pasadena Playhouse's Heartbeats and "The Rose"/Bette Midler) and composer Michele Brourman (TV's The Land Before Time and Universal Studios' The Little Engine that Could), the musical writing-duo of Pasadena Playhouse's upcoming musical Dangerous Beauty, together with the world premiere musical's leading lady Jenny Powers (Broadway's Grease as Rizzo and Little Women as Meg), will perform one special night at Show at Barre entitled DANGEROUS BEAUTIES.

The Award winning series Cabaret Cares returns October 18th at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Cabaret Cares is a monthly cabaret series the raises awareness and funds for Help Is On The Way Today. A non for profit that helps and assists children and young adults living with HIV and AIDS. Cabaret Cares has raised and distributed over $50,000 in the first five years.

After a recent standing-room-only performances at the famed Gardenia in Los Angeles, Pat Whiteman reprises her new cabaret act 'The Mood I'm In' with one performance only on Saturday, October 9th at Arthur Newman Theatre in The Joslyn Center Theater in Palm Desert. Broadway's Jason Graae directed Ms. Whiteman's act, which is part of the Les Michaels Cabaret Concert Series, which has been running here since July and will continue through December. Cabaret Scenes Magazine calls Pat's show: 'the perfect cabaret show and a powerful, evocative singer with enough acting chops to convey a range of varied emotions in any song.'

The Mabel Mercer Foundation has announced the performers for The 21st New York Cabaret Convention. Among the performers for this celebration of cabaret will be Elaine Stritch and Christine Ebersole.

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 7, 8, 9, The Mabel Mercer Foundation comes of age by presenting its 21st annual Cabaret Convention at The Rose Theater, Frederick P. Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Performances begin each evening at 6 o'clock, and more than forty exemplary vocalists and musicians are scheduled to appear in three diverse programs.
