They preserve the music, lyrics and orchestrations of shows for other generations and allow today's teens to enjoy the craftsmanship of Rodgers and Hart and Vincent Youman. They also allow someone who was only six years old when the original production of FANNY played on Broadway to fall in love with Harold Rome's remarkable score on black vinyl and later on CD. This is music that is filled with gems, but the special moment that most aficionados tend to recall is William Tabbert's soaring rendition of the title tune. His singing of the plaintive lyric, 'Here's a boy with no heart to give Fanny... Not worth the tears you'll cry, Fanny, oh Fanny, goodbye' is so stellar that it remains in peoples' minds more than half a century later. The production ran for almost 900 performances but most people who remember Tabbert's singing never saw the show. It's the cast album that echoes in their ears and resonates in their hearts.
Nickelodeon has announced that they will partner with Columbia/Epic Label Group (a label group of Sony Music Entertainment) to co-produce Victorious, an original new live-action comedy series from prolific creator and executive producer Dan Schneider (iCarly, Zoey 101, Drake & Josh) and featuring teen star Victoria Justice (Zoey 101, Spectacular!). Twenty episodes have been ordered of the half-hour comedy series, which is set in a modern day Hollywood school for the performing arts and features an ensemble cast of teens who act, sing, dance and perform original music. The series, set to premiere in 2010, is currently being produced in Los Angeles, CA.

Zac Efron, the 21-year-old star of the 'High School Musical' mega-hit series of films broke out and 'graduated' with a winning opening for his new film comedy '17 Again.' The comic high school time-swap feature, which costars Matthew Perry, earned $24.1 million, according to the studio estimates from box office tracking service Nielsen EDI.
