Theatre appeals to you, especially because it gives you a chance to tell stories and to play. You start talking to that cute girl and she watches from the wings as you take on the (almost) titular role in The Importance of Being Earnest in the theatre department's production. You love the chance to be physically funny as the iconic character. You make her laugh.

You and she are both theatre majors and finally calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend. Upon graduating, you land a spot in the acting MFA program at the University of Florida. Things are going pretty well. To top it all off, you get cast in your dream role, Seaweed Stubbs in Hairspray, at Priscilla Beach Theatre. You'll be spending the summer dancing and making people laugh in a charming little barn by the beach in Plymouth. And the best part? Your girlfriend will also be in the cast, playing Lorraine.
After 17 years of dreaming, the Diego Symphony has announced the inaugural season lineup and official name for the highly-anticipated permanent outdoor concert venue, The Shell. Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) Musical Theatre Conservatory welcomes Broadway actress and recording artist Jessica Vosk to be the artist-in-residence for this year's 'Performing with the Pros' event, taking place Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. During the three-week residency, Vosk has been involved in the casting, directing and designing of the show along with Creator and Director Karen Rymar.

Tony Award®-winning actress Ali Stroker (Oklahoma, Deaf West's Spring Awakening, The Glee Project) narrates the audiobook of JUST ASK: Be Different, Be Brave, Be You (Listening Library; on sale January 21, 2020), written by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Sotomayor plays herself alongside Stroker, as well as narrates her introduction and author's note. In the book, Sotomayor uses her own experiences as a child to write about kids with all sorts of challenges, and the special powers those children have as well.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, has announced the 2020 TCG Gala: Our Stories will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 at The Edison Ballroom (240 W 47th Street). The Gala will honor the National Black Theatre Festival of Winston-Salem and David Henry Hwang and will include festive performances, inspiring speakers, and a celebratory dinner with theatre leaders, celebrities, and enthusiasts. A 6:00pm cocktail reception will be followed by a 7:00pm seated dinner, with entertainment beginning at 7:20pm. Additional programming will be announced soon.
The groundbreaking, history-making Broadway revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! will be celebrating sustainability next week on Sustainability Night, to be held at the evening performance, Wednesday. December 18.
